  • Publication number: 20100245983
Abstract: A display media particle used for an information display panel having display media constituted of particles sealed between two substrates, at least one of which is transparent, for displaying information by moving the display media, is formed of a mother particle 32 made from materials including a base resin having child particles 33 added to a surface thereof. The base resin is a thermoplastic resin having a viscosity of no more than 1000 Pa·s at 260° C. and a shear rate at 122 s?1, and a heatproof temperature at no less than 430° C. Since optimal conditions of the viscosity and the heatproof temperature are specified, it is possible to round the resin effectively by a heat treatment for spheronization as a post-treatment after manufacturing.

Abstract: An image display device, in which image display media are sealed between opposed substrates, at least one of two substrates being transparent, and in which the image display media, to which an electrostatic field is applied, are made to move so as to display an image. A construction of particles used as the image display media is improved (the first, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth aspects of the invention), and a material of the particles used as the image display media is improved (the third, seventh and tenth aspects of the invention). Whiteness of the particles and a liquid powder using the particles is improved, particle agglutination is prevented, and the charge property is controlled. Moreover, durability is improved such that a contrast of the image display during a repetition display is not decreased. As a result, an excellent image display can be achieved.
