  • Patent number: 6817123
Abstract: In a display device, a display surface portion includes a light emitting area on which a plurality of light emitting devices are arranged, and a nonluminous area formed on spaces among the arranged light emitting devices on the display surface portion. The nonluminous area is formed with a nonluminous image and the nonluminous image is displayed on the nonluminous area in color. An emission unit for selectively causing at least one of the light emitting elements to emit light so as to display an image on the display surface portion.

  • Publication number: 20040061661
Abstract: The present invention relates to a large-sized display apparatus and a large-sized display unit, which reduces the occurrence probability of a failure of a unit of one array causing failures of units following the failed unit of the same array as well as does not require any laborious work or constructions of setting address values in the unit control portions.

  • Patent number: 6411047
Abstract: A large display device whose screen is defined by a matrix of pixels. Each pixel is made up of at least two light-emitting diodes (LEDs): a first LED producing light of first color, and a second LED producing light of second color. The display device includes an LED control circuit designed to actuate the second LED in each pixel by look-up using a correction table to visually mix the light of the second color with the light of the first color produced by a corresponding one of the first LED in a given proportion to minimize a difference in chromaticity of the lights of the first color between the pixels.
