  • Publication number: 20160093952
Abstract: A communication apparatus having an antenna, for which directivity characteristics can be changed by setting parameters, specifies the parameters of the antenna to obtain directivity characteristics to be used for communication. After specifying the first parameter having a direction of directivity corresponding to the first communication path with another communication apparatus, the communication apparatus searches for the second parameter having a direction of directivity corresponding to the second communication path from parameters obtained by excluding the first parameter from possible parameters. The communication apparatus communicates with the other communication apparatus by setting the antenna using the first and second parameters.

  • Patent number: 8676395
Abstract: A communication terminal includes a first communication unit having a power supply function by electromagnetic induction, and a second communication unit having a communication capability higher than that of the first communication unit. When communicating with a communication partner terminal, it is determined whether to receive power from the communication partner terminal. Upon determining to receive the power by the power supply function of the first communication unit, communication with the communication partner terminal by the second communication unit is controlled using the power supplied from the communication partner terminal by the power supply function of the first communication unit.

  • Patent number: 8514950
Abstract: A communication apparatus may include a demodulation unit, a waveform memory unit, a decoding unit, an encoding unit, a modulation unit, and a transmission unit. The demodulation unit demodulates a received signal to create a demodulated signal. The waveform memory unit stores the demodulated signal and a waveform of the demodulated signal. The decoding unit decodes the demodulated signal to create a decoded signal. The encoding unit encodes the decoded signal to create an encoded signal. The modulation unit modulates one of the encoded signal to create a modulated encoded signal and the demodulated signal to create a modulated demodulated signal. The transmission unit transmit one of the modulated encoded signal and the modulated demodulated signal according to a reception state of the received signal.

  • Patent number: 8493901
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus, which is capable of operating in an active mode and a sleep mode, comprises an antenna control unit, which controls a half-value angle and a directivity angle of an antenna for communication, and a mode control unit, which controls a change between the active mode and the sleep mode. When the wireless communication apparatus is in the sleep mode, the antenna control unit sets the half-value angle of the antenna to be a larger half-value angle than the half-value angle with respect to the active mode, and sets the directivity angle of the antenna to a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 8072964
Abstract: In a communication system in which a plurality of communication apparatuses form a wireless network and communicate with each other, a communication apparatus establishes timing synchronization by transmitting and receiving a beacon to and from other communication apparatuses. The communication apparatus determines whether or not beacon slots for transmitting the beacon are occupied, and if the beacon slots are occupied, connects to another communication apparatus without transmitting the beacon.

  • Patent number: 7965666
Abstract: A communication system comprises a control station and a child station. The child station decides a communication period between the child station and the control station in order to maintain a connection state in a power save mode. The decision of the communication period is performed in accordance with a predetermined wake-up period, a time-out value that maintains the connection state even when no communication is taking place, and a frame length that is a unit of the communication. The child station decides on the time-out value to be the communication period when the wake-up period is greater than the time-out period, and decides on the wake-up period to be the communication period when the wake-up period is less than or equal to the time-out period. The child station then transmits the decided communication period to the control station.
