  • Patent number: 6208840
Abstract: A handy phone capable of performing infrared communication with an external apparatus is disclosed. As soon as the phone searching for the other station at the beginning of communication detects data via its infrared receipt section, it alerts the user of the detection of a bit error. Therefore, when the received data is free from a bit error, the phone can immediately inform the user of the phone of the fact that physical connection of the phone and the other station has no problems, even before a station location command is sent in all the slots. This eases the user's mind at the earliest possible stage. Further, the phone of the present invention is capable of immediately reporting the fact that the distance between infrared ports or the angle between the axes of the ports may not be adequate to the user, urging the user to correct the distance or the angle immediately.

  • Patent number: 5732348
Abstract: In a cellular telephone set for monitoring a control channel, an EEPROM memorizes both a home SID number and a sub-home SID number. A radio section seeks four radio channels within a radio frequency band under control of a CPU and successively receives radio signals through the radio channels to produce a sequence of received data signals. The CPU detects an operational SID number from each of the received data signals to compare the operational SID number with the home SID number and to further compare the operational SID number with the sub-home SID number only when the operational SID number does not coincide with the home SID number. The CPU selects, as a selected channel, one of the radio channels based on a result of the comparison and makes the radio section tune the selected chancel to monitor the selected channel as the control channel.

  • Patent number: 5621785
Abstract: In a mobile communication system comprising a plurality of base stations disposed in respective radio zones, a portable telephone set (20) comprises a radio transmission/reception section (24) for receiving a first area identification signal transmitted from a first base station. A main RAM (22) holds the first area identification signal as a current area identification signal. Responsive to an incoming call signal for the first base station, a main CPU (21) determines whether or not a user of the portable telephone set answers to the incoming call signal within a predetermined time interval elapsed since the incoming call signal is received. The main CPU (21) ensures one of the voice channels as an ensured voice channel by carrying out an automatic answering for the incoming call signal when the user does not answer to the incoming call signal within the predetermined time interval.

  • Patent number: 5613202
Abstract: In a mobile station for use in radio communication with a selected station selected from a plurality of base stations which are placed at different positions and which have station numbers, respectively, position data are previously memorized in an RAM (13) in a form in which the position data are dependent on the station numbers, respectively. The position data represent summary addresses of the positions, respectively. The selected station transmits a particular signal representative of a particular one of said station numbers. A CPU (12) reads, as a particular datum, one of the position data from the RAM in accordance with reception of the particular signal. The CPU makes an LCD (15) display the particular datum in response to operation of a keypad (16).

  • Patent number: 5475739
Abstract: In an automatic answering telephone apparatus, a correspondence table between a plurality of record areas of a speech memory and a plurality of identification numbers is provided. When an identification number is received from a calling party, an answer message is output from one record area corresponding to the received identification number of the calling party. Two separate control circuits are used to control the identification and reproduction of a recorded message.

  • Patent number: 5467392
Abstract: A dialing apparatus comprises a keypad (21) having digit keys for entering a digit corresponding to a set of characters and a function key (SND). Character strings and corresponding digit strings are stored in a memory (23). In response to a digit from the keypad, a controller (20, 24) makes a search through the memory for detecting each one of characters of the set which corresponds to the digit and detecting character strings each containing the detected character. The detected character strings are then sequentially supplied to a display unit (22) from the memory so that they are displayed one at a time. When the command key is operated, the character string being displayed on the display unit is identified and the digits stored in the memory corresponding to the identified character string are dialed to a switched network.

  • Patent number: 5438612
Abstract: A radio telephone apparatus having a time specifying unit, a time measuring unit, a call controller, and an auxiliary power supply. The time measuring unit measures an elapsed period of time to detect the lapse of a specified period of time previously inputted to the time specifying unit. When it is found, as a result of the measurement, that the specified period of time has elapsed, the call controller limits call origination. Also, when the main power supply is off, the time specifying unit and the time measuring unit are powered from the auxiliary power supply, thereby measuring the lapse of time regardless of the on or off state of the main power supply. Consequently, call origination can be limited according to the lapse of a specified period of time or the arrival of a specified point in time.
