  • Publication number: 20160195226
Abstract: A light source unit is used in a multiply combined manner, and includes a light source element having a substrate and one or more light emitting elements disposed on the substrate. The light source unit is configured such that when a plurality of the light source units are arranged in cascade, the light source element in the light source unit comes to in electric connection with another light source element in an adjacent light source unit. Thereby, the plurality of light source units may emit light at the same time. Thus, the structure similar to rod-shaped light source such as CCFL is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20150257220
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a light emitting element driving circuit including: a capacitive element; a current limiting section limiting a charging current for the capacitive element; a first constant current source stabilizing a discharging current supplied from the capacitive element to a light emitting element; and a switch controlling ON and OFF in supplying the discharging current to the light emitting element. The capacitive element is charged with electricity from the power source circuit in the preceding stage through the current limiting section. Also, the electric charges in the capacitive element are discharged in the form of a given discharging current for the discharging time period, and the light emitting element emits light in accordance with the given discharging current. In this case, the charging current for the capacitive element is limited by the current limiting section in such a way that the current value thereof becomes small.

  • Patent number: 8264450
Abstract: The present invention provides an illuminating apparatus locally reducing light intensity without depending on the configuration of a light source itself. An illuminating apparatus used as a backlight of a display apparatus having a liquid crystal display panel with a pair of first polarizers, including a light source and a liquid crystal light control panel. The liquid crystal light control panel has a pair of second polarizers and suppresses amount of transmission of light from the light source, thereby allows the light from the light source to have such a light intensity distribution along a plane that light intensity is locally reduced. The polarization degree in the second polarizers is optimized so that transmission light amount ratio of the second polarizers is lower than that of the first polarizers.

  • Patent number: 8223295
Abstract: A liquid-crystal display that can inhibit the coloring of an image when a liquid-crystal panel is viewed from an oblique direction is provided. An optical filter is disposed at the forward end of a liquid-crystal panel and has different transmittances between a light component that travels in an oblique direction and a light component that travels in a direction normal to the multilayer, where both of the light components have a predetermined wavelength range. In the case where a wide-color-gamut light source, such as LEDs, is used as a light sources of a backlight unit, when the liquid-crystal panel is viewed from an oblique direction, the entire image area tends to be reddish, and the color temperature tends to decrease. In this case, the optical filter is configured such that the intensity of a visible red light component is selectively reduced such that the intensity of a visible blue light component is increased, thereby inhibiting the reddening of an image area when viewed from an oblique direction.
