  • Patent number: 4127884
Abstract: A thin film type magnetic head, in which a conductor is accommodated within a groove formed in part of a ferromagnetic substrate constituting part of a magnetic core, and a ferromagnetic film is disposed on the conductor to constitute part of the magnetic core. With this structure, it is possible to reduce the number of steps of layers constituting the magnetic head for reducing damage or breakage of the stepped portions of the layers and also increase the core gap in a central part of the core so as to reduce leakage flux even in the thin film magnetic head as well as bettering dissipation of Joule heat produced in the conductor.

  • Patent number: 4092688
Abstract: A bias conductor layer for a bias current path extends through the gaps of a plurality of unit thin-film magnetic heads, which are placed side by side over signal conductor layers. A spacer layer is provided between upper and lower magnetic material layers and extends over the area including the gaps formed between the bias conductor layer and the signal conductor layers, and an additional thickness of spacer material is provided at the gaps so that the distance between the upper and lower magnetic material layers is increased and therefore magnetic short-circuiting is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4072993
Abstract: A multi-element magnetic head having a plurality of magnetic heads, in which a common electrode common to the coils of the individual heads is provided. By this construction the number of electrodes is reduced and also the area required for contact between leads from an external circuit and electrodes are reduced. Thus, it is made possible to reduce the head pitch of the magnetic heads.

  • Patent number: 4071868
Abstract: A magnetic head consists of a magnetic flux converging core having a magnetic gap and a magnetoresistive effect element which forms a magnetic circuit and which is arranged in the same plane as the magnetic gap. The direction of thickness of the magnetic circuit is aligned with the direction of width of a track of a record medium, and shielding plates of ferromagnetic material are arranged on both sides of the plane.

  • Patent number: 4068272
Abstract: This invention provides a high sensitivity magnetic head using magneto-resistive effect elements consisting of ferromagnetic thin plates and allows construction of a high precision multi-track head by using thin film and photo-etching techniques. The magnetic head comprises a base, two flux converging cores forming a magnetic gap, a detecting portion provided between the two flux converging cores and extending at right angles to the end of the base, one end of the detecting portion being located in the neighborhood of the gap and having a smaller sectional area than the other portions, and detecting electrodes provided at the opposite ends of the detecting portion. At least one of the two cores is of a ferromagnetic material and integrally formed on the base.

  • Patent number: 4065797
Abstract: A multi-element made magnetic head having a plurality of magnetoresistive elements of a ferromagnetic material such as permalloy formed on a base of a ferromagnetic material such as ferrite is disclosed. The ferromagnetic material base is formed with a groove, which is common for all elements made extends parallel to the recording medium. It is filled with a non-magentic material such as glass, and the individual magnetoresistive elements are disposed so as to bridge the groove and are not adapted to be in direct frictional contact with the recording medium for reducing their wear. The magnetoresistive elements are also made to extend perpendicular to the recording medium so as to increase the head density or reduce the head pitch.
