Abstract: A fishing rod includes a tubular rod, an inner rod, and fishline guides. The inner rod has a fishline guiding passage therethrough, and is fitted in or detached from the tubular rod. The fishline guides project toward a center axis in the fishline guiding passage, and are fitted in or detached from the tubular rod. When the inner rod and the fishline guides are attached in the tubular rod, fishline is held by the fishline guides within the tubular rod, and it is drawn out or pulled back through an opening at the tip of the rod. When the inside of the rod is to be cleaned, the inner rod and the fishline guides are taken out of the tubular rod, and they are easily cleaned.

Abstract: A method of making a pipe-like member such as a fishing rod and a golf club is disclosed. According to the method, a tape-like prepreg is formed by overlaying each other a first fiber layer comprised of fibers aligned along a longitudinal direction of the layer and a second fiber layer comprised of fibers aligned in a direction substantially normal to the fiber alignment direction of the first fiber layer. Then, the tape-like prepreg is wound about a mandrel with a turn of the prepreg being widthwise overlapped with an adjacent turn of the prepreg. Thereafter, the assembly is sintered.

Abstract: A fish hook comprising a stem having a head, and a pointed end formed in continuation of the stem, bent toward the head, and having a barb, the stem being provided at the head with a flange extending radially outwardly of the stem and retaining a fishing line which is wrapped beneath the head, the flange having a cutout for guiding the fishing line.

Abstract: A fishing reel which supports at its body frame a spool freely rotatably by disengagement of a clutch is provided with a first detector which detects a drawing-out speed of a fishing line wound onto the spool, a second detector which detects a rotational speed of the spool, a processor having an arithmetic unit and connecting with the output lines of the detectors, and an actuator operative by an output signal from the processor which controls application of a rotational resistance against free rotation of the spool.

Abstract: A sound generating mechanism for a fishing spinning reel comprises sounding teeth attached in a stationary manner to a spool spindle, and a sound generating element in mesh with the teeth. The sound generating element is formed of a strip of elastic material and incorporated with a support bent in a circular arc and in elastic contact with the inner periphery of the spool, an expansion portion, and a sound generating portion, so that when the spool is rotated to draw out a fishing line the support expands diametrically to jam onto the inner periphery of spool to thereby cause the sound generating portion to move relative to said teeth and make a sound, while, when rotated reversely the sound generating portion contracts to slide with respect to the inner periphery of the spool such that said sound generating portion does not move relative to said teeth and thereby generates no sound.
