  • Patent number: 6166470
Abstract: A brushless DC motor, whose stator (10) is a combination of stator yokes (11, 16). a bobbin (14) on which a magnetic field coil (15) is wound and to which terminal pins are provided, and a base plate (20). The stator (10) is fixed to the base plate (20) by a protrusion (12c) provided on the bobbin (14) or by a flange (18a) formed on a bearing. The widths of magnetic poles (11a, 16a) of the stator, which are measured in the circumferential direction of the stator, are smaller than the width of one of the poles of a rotor magnet (5). Thereby, the position of a stable point is a maximum excitation torque position. Further, a magnetic pole sensing element (21) is provided at a place which is shifted in the circumferential direction from the middle position of one of the magnetic poles of the rotor magnet (5).

  • Patent number: 6148030
Abstract: A motion picture coding and decoding apparatus synthesizes a lower layer frame at a certain time by using first component area information of a lower layer preceding in the time and second component area information of a lower layer succeeding in the time. For an area where the first and second component areas overlapped, or for an area which is neither the first nor the second component area on the lower layer frame, lower layer frames preceding and succeeding in time are subjected to weighted average for synthetisization. For the area corresponding to the first component area only, the lower layer frame succeeding in time is used, and for the area corresponding to the second component area only on the synthesized lower layer frame, the lower layer frame preceding in time is used, for synthesizing the lower layer.

  • Patent number: 6128344
Abstract: An image coding/decoding apparatus offers a visually high quality image at a very low bit rate. The image is divided into images for individual regions using its shape information. Each region is made into rectangle blocks by an extrapolation process, whereby each region can be sub-band coded. Finally, multiple extrapolated images which were formed by the extrapolating process, are appropriately coded or quantized.

  • Patent number: 5838082
Abstract: A superconducting bearing device comprising a superconductor mounted on a stationary member and a magnet section to be mounted on a rotating member, the superconductor and the magnet section being disposed to oppose each other with a gap therebetween. Also disclosed is a method for producing the magnet section thereof, wherein the magnet section consists of a plurality of annular permanent magnets which are concentric with the axis of the rotating member and also include at least one soft magnetic yoke disposed between these annular permanent magnets. Each annular magnet, in turn, may be comprised of a plurality of arcuate magnet portions whose joint surfaces may be concentrically or axially staggered to disperse nonuniform flux densities observed at their junction surfaces. The joint surfaces between the annular and magnets and the interposing rings may be curved or slanted to reduce axial displacement when the magnet section is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5581180
Abstract: A displacement detector detects a relative position between a wire rope and a pulley of a transfer apparatus. The detector includes a magnet disposed to face the wire rope, two magnetoelectric conversion units disposed relative to a pitch of lays of the wire rope to produce two output voltages having ripple components caused by the pitch of lays and being opposite to each other in terms of phase, and a circuit unit connected to the magnetoelectric conversion units for detecting displacement degrees of the wire rope from the pulley according to the output voltages and adding the output voltages so that said ripple components of opposite phases offset each other thereby removing effects of said pitch of lays.

  • Patent number: 5553948
Abstract: A static pressure gas bearing spindle assembly which can prevent any dust contained in the compressed air used to support the spindle from sticking to the workpiece placed on the work-support table. The housing has a sleeve mounting hole in which are mounted a chucking sleeve and a bearing sleeve. A gas exhaust space is defined between these sleeves. This space communicates with the outer environment through a gas exhaust passage formed in the housing. The spindle carries at its top end a work-supporting table. The chucking sleeve is formed with a suction passage that communicates with a workpiece suction recess formed in the table. Compressed gas is supplied into a radial bearing gap formed between the spindle and the bearing sleeve, and exhausted into the outer environment through the gas exhaust space and the passage. Even if part of the compressed gas flow into the space between the chucking sleeve and the spindle, it can be instantly sucked into the suction passage.

  • Patent number: 5373223
Abstract: A power converter/inverter system for a load comprises a converter circuit for converting an alternating current power input into a direct current power intermediate signal in response to a first PWM voltage. An inverter inverts the DC power intermediate signal into an AC power output in response to a second PWM voltage. A smoothing filter is arranged in series between a converter and the inverter for filtering the DC power intermediate signal. An instantaneous real power calculating circuit calculates an instantaneous real power (IRP) relative to the inverter and is determined by a torque current command value and a load angular speed signal. A converter controller controls the first PWM voltage of the converter in accordance of a combination a predetermined converter amplitude setpoint, a DC voltage present at the DC power intermediate signal, and the instantaneous real power product.
