  • Patent number: 6438350
Abstract: The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus comprising an original document conveying route, original document conveying mechanism for conveying original documents along the original document conveying route, first reading unit for reading an image on one side of the original document; and second reading unit for reading an image on the other side of the original document. The first reading unit reads an image on one side of the original document while the original document is conveyed in a forward direction at a first speed by the original document conveying mechanism, and then after the original document is conveyed in a reverse direction at a second speed, the second reading unit reads the other side of the original document while the original document is again conveyed in the forward direction. The second speed is faster than the first speed.

  • Patent number: 5909290
Abstract: An original-reading device has a first mode of reading an original mounted on an original-mount while moving a scanning unit for scanning the original, and a second reading mode of reading an original being moved while stopping the scanning unit at a predetermined position. The size of the device can be reduced by making the position where the scanning unit stops in the second reading mode within the moving range of the scanning unit in the first reading mode.

  • Patent number: 5029839
Abstract: A sheet feeding apparatus of the invention comprises a conveying belt which is driven in such a direction as to send sheets, a belt or the like which is driven in the direction opposite to the belt conveying direction so as to apply a predetermined resistance force to the feeding of the sheets, and a frictional member adapted to be come into pressure contact with the conveying belt through the sheets. With the apparatus, the sheets can be certainly separated one by one irrespective of the material and thickness of the sheet.
