  • Patent number: 6161528
Abstract: A recirculating exhaust gas cooling device is provided for cooling exhaust gas of a vehicle engine while the exhaust gas is recirculating through an EGR system designed to lower NOx emission levels. The cooling device includes a housing in which an exhaust gas recirculation passage and a cooling fluid passages are located next to each other, to extend in parallel with each other, and a heat-exchange core member rotatably provided in the housing and defining a multiplicity of passages that extend in substantially parallel with a rotational axis of the core member, and a rotating mechanism that rotates the core member. The multiple passages of the core member communicate with both of the exhaust gas recirculation passage and the cooling fluid passage. With the core member being rotated, EGR gas passing through the exhaust gas recirculation passage is cooled by a part of the passages of the core member that has been cooled by a cooling fluid passing through the cooling fluid passage.

  • Patent number: 4825523
Abstract: A variable-volume turbocharger device comprises at least two exhaust gas passages (A), (B) different in the flow characteristics, divided by a partition wall (20) provided in a turbine housing (18), and two valve members (34a), (34b) which are actuated so as to open and shut the exhaust gas passages (A), (B). The valve members (34a), (34b) each are actuated to open and shut in response to the speed and load of an engine or the likes, whereby either one of the exhaust gas passages (A), (B) or both of them are opened to provide at least three turbine flow characteristics. An exhaust gas turbine (12) can be thereby operated with remarkably good efficiency suitably to the operating state of the engine.

  • Patent number: 4337276
Abstract: A storage container containing a freshness keeping agents for vegetables and fruits, consisting essentially of a particulate composition which contains at least two components selected from the group consisting of zeolite, bentonate and activated carbon. The freshness keeping agent absorbs ethylene gas, etc. generated from vegetables and fruits, thereby preventing them from overripening, softening, etc.
