  • Patent number: 5199523
Abstract: A front and rear wheel steering system for a vehicle which transmits a steering input from a front wheel steering gear box to a rear wheel steering gear box via a coupling shaft as a rotation thereof around its longitudinal line and varies a steering gear ratio of rear wheels to front wheels according to the speed of the vehicle. A steering rod for steering the rear wheels with its longitudinal movement is provided with a crank portion which is engaged with a swing shaft pivotally attached to the coupling shaft via a pivot shaft perpendicular thereto so as to perform a gyrating motion around an extension line of the coupling shaft and thereby move the steering rod along its longitudinal direction to achieve a steering action of the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 4902028
Abstract: An apparatus for steering the front and rear wheels of a motor vehicle includes a front wheel steering mechanism for steering the front wheels in response to operation of a steering wheel, a rear wheel steering mechanism for steering the rear wheels at least in the same direction as the direction in which the front wheels are steered, and a connector shaft mechanically interconnecting the front and rear wheel steering mechanisms. A rotation control mechanism employing a viscous fluid is mounted on the connector shaft for applying a resistive force dependent on the speed of rotation of the steering wheel to the connector shaft.

  • Patent number: 4706977
Abstract: A steering device for steering front and rear wheels of a motor vehicle has a steering gear box for the front wheels and a steering gear box for the rear wheels. The front wheel steering gear box includes a first rack shaft operatively coupled to the front wheels, a first input shaft and an output shaft operatively coupled to the first rack shaft. The rear wheel steering gear box includes a second rack shaft operatively coupled to the rear wheels and a second input shaft operatively coupled to the second rack shaft. The output shaft and the second input shaft are interconnected by a linkage shaft. The second input shaft has an end inserted into the rear wheel steering gear box and inclined downwardly. The rear wheel steering gear box is supported on the vehicle frame for tilting movement around the second rack shaft.

  • Patent number: 4539805
Abstract: A false-twisted polyester yarn of good dyeing and mechanical properties is produced by a process wherein a yarn consisting of an as-spun polyester fiber having a mean birefrigence index (.DELTA.n) of from 15.times.10.sup.-3 to 150.times.10.sup.-3 is heat-treated and continuously, subjected to a false twisting treatment or draw-false twisting treatment. A preferred apparatus used comprises a feed yarn creel, a false twisting heater and an optional stabilizing heater, a false twisting element and a winder, wherein a heat-treating heater of the non-contact type is arranged upstream of the false twisting heater and between the false twisting heater and the feed yarn creel, at a height substantially equal to the height of the feed yarn creel so that the heat-treating heater confronts the false twisting heater; and a yarn cooling zone is provided between the heat-treating heater and the false twisting heater.
