Patent number: 9199599Abstract: A passenger protection device in which an airbag capable of expanding by receiving a predetermined action signal is disposed on the position of a shoulder belt, and a webbing is wound by means of one winding device, wherein the airbag is folded along a gate-shape guide-form slide guide having high-rigidity parts arranged to have a predetermined distance from one another along one side surface of a low-rigidity part extending in the lengthwise direction of the airbag can smoothly slide along the webbing via the slide guide when the webbing is being pulled out. Moreover, it is possible to fit the folded airbag between the chest and shoulder of a passenger because the slide guide is flexible.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2013Date of Patent: December 1, 2015Assignee: Takata CorporationInventors: Norio Yamataki, Hikaru Kameyoshi, Atsushi Ichida, Tatsuya Higuchi

Patent number: 9027961Abstract: An air belt having mesh webbing sufficiently strong and sufficiently expandable in the circumferential direction of a bag-shaped belt and an air belt apparatus including the air belt are provided. An air belt includes a folded member being a bag-shaped belt folded in a band shape and mesh webbing covering the folded member of the bag-shaped belt. The mesh webbing hardly expands in the longitudinal direction of the air belt, and is flexibly expandable in the circumferential direction of the bag-shaped belt. The mesh webbing is made of a raschel-knitted material. The knitted material is arranged such that the extending direction of knot portions of yarn threads and corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the air belt.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2012Date of Patent: May 12, 2015Assignee: Takata CorporationInventor: Norio Yamataki

Patent number: 8864168Abstract: A seat belt is wound up in a passenger protection apparatus. An airbag to be inflatable is at a position of a shoulder belt of the seat belt by being folded like a belt in the passenger protection apparatus. The passenger protection apparatus includes a fabric member which configures a bag-like member of the airbag and a partition wall fabric. The partition wall fabric has portions respectively connected to first and second parts of the fabric member and partitions an inside of the bag-like member into a central inflatable portion and supporting inflatable portions each of which is located between a passenger-side surface of the fabric member and a fabric formed of the central inflatable portion. The first and second parts configure inner surface of the bag-like member and hold the seat belt. The second part is configured to face a passenger and opposite to the first part.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2013Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Takata CorporationInventors: Atsushi Ichida, Norio Yamataki, Hiroaki Isozaki

Patent number: 8550496Abstract: An airbelt wherein a folded body of a bag-like belt is covered with a cover, and the two are sewn together with tear seams, and wherein the tear seams can be torn without the need to use a high-power inflator when the airbelt is inflated, and an airbelt apparatus employing this airbelt are provided. In one form, a mesh webbing and a mesh cover cover the bag-like belt. A plurality of parts of the airbelt in the longitudinal direction are sewn with the tear seams. The tear seams extend in the width direction of the airbelt and curve so as to be convex toward a tongue.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2010Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: Takata CorporationInventor: Norio Yamataki

Publication number: 20090033077Abstract: An inflatable belt is provided having good tactual feeling and an inflatable belt apparatus is provided comprising the same. In one form, a bag comprises a front portion and an over-shoulder portion which are connected to form substantially a boomerang shape. The bag is formed by folding a panel into two along a boundary between panel parts which form side surfaces of the left half and the right half of the bag in the inflated state, respectively, and each of which has substantially a boomerang shape, and sewing peripheral edges of the panel parts other than the boundary together by a sewing yarn. The bag is spread flat such that the panel parts are superposed on each other. Then, a portion of the over-shoulder portion on the side of the boundary between the panel parts is interfolded into a space between the panel parts. After that, the bag is folded along fold lines parallel to the boundary to reduce the width of the folded body.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2008Publication date: February 5, 2009Inventor: Norio Yamataki
