  • Publication number: 20150085239
Abstract: A liquid crystal display element (110) includes a common electrode (140). The common electrode (140) covers a location which faces at least one of at least a part of scanning lines (120) and at least a part of signal lines (119), has openings (141) at locations facing transparent pixel electrodes (130), and has a cutout section (142) at a pixel boundary region (146) in such a manner that the cutout section (142) exists at least at a part of the pixel boundary region (146) which part does not face the transparent pixel electrodes (130).

  • Patent number: 8339532
Abstract: An active matrix liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal layer; two substrates sandwiching the liquid crystal layer; and electrodes respectively provided in the two substrates, the electrodes applying voltage across the liquid crystal layer. A first electrode (15) in the substrate including a pixel selecting element (11) has a striped electrode pattern (15c) aligning liquid crystal molecules along a stripe line direction when voltage is applied across the liquid crystal layer. A contact (25h) of the first electrode (15) with the selecting element (11) is formed in a region opposed to, along a film thickness direction, a first region to which a signal liner (GLi) is allocated. This provides a liquid crystal display device in which a contact is made with the pixel electrode having the striped electrode pattern having the periodical arrangement, while alignment disorder of the liquid crystal molecules is not reflected on display.

  • Publication number: 20120147306
Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a transflective liquid crystal display device that has high light transmittance and reflectance, an excellent visibility, and suitable display characteristics achieved by the sufficiently controlled liquid crystal orientation. A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes a thin-film transistor array substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween. The liquid crystal display device includes a pixel having a reflective display region that performs a reflective display, and a transmissive display region that performs a transmissive display. When the substrate surface is viewed from the normal direction, the transmissive display region is disposed in a center section of the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20110090428
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device 100 according to the present invention includes: a liquid crystal layer 32 interposed between first and second substrates 11, 21; a pixel electrode 10, which includes a reflective pixel electrode 10r and a transparent pixel electrode 10t; a counter electrode 22; an organic insulating layer 24a, which has been deposited on the counter electrode 22 to face the liquid crystal layer 32; and a columnar spacer 24b arranged between the first and second substrates 11 and 21. The organic insulating layer 24a covers only the reflecting region R selectively or the counter electrode 22 substantially entirely, and is thicker in the reflecting region R than in the transmitting region T. And the columnar spacer 24b is made of the same organic film as the organic insulating layer 24a.
