    Abstract: A character input apparatus includes a display an input module and an area controller. The display displays characters and a cursor position. The input module has a plurality of keys for instructing deletion of characters displayed on the display. The area controller (i) measures a press time in a case where a key of the input module is pressed, (ii) determines whether the press time is a short time or a long time, (iii) performs an input unique to the key when the press time is a short time, and (vi) instructs a transition to a long press mode to delete characters in a range predetermined with respect to the cursor position when the press time is a long time.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a playback apparatus plays back digital content data stored in storage media. The digital content data includes main video data and sub-picture data including a plurality of kinds of subtitles. A detection module detects display positions and display sizes of two or more kinds of subtitles which are selected from the plurality of kinds of subtitles. A video process module calculate a reduction ratio, which is to be applied to the main video data, on the basis of the determined display positions and display sizes of the two or more kinds of subtitles, and reduces the main video data with the calculated reduction ratio, thereby to prevent the subtitles from overlapping a display area of the main video data. An output module composites the reduced main video data and the determined subtitles, and outputs video data which is obtained by the compositing.

    Abstract: Encrypted content, an encrypted content key and an encryption key are generated. The encrypted content and the encrypted content key are delivered to a local server via a network and are stored. A decryption key for decrypting the encrypted content key that corresponds to a reproduction request for predetermined content, and the encryption key for re-encrypting the decrypted content key that is decrypted by the decryption key are delivered via the network. Thereby, the encrypted content is decrypted using the decrypted content key. The decrypted content key is re-encrypted using the encryption key, and the stored encrypted content key is updated with the re-encrypted content key, and the updated content key is stored.
