Patent number: 5840028Abstract: This invention relates to an ultrasonic diagnostic equipment usable to measure small vibrations in myocardial tissues superimposed on a large amplitude vibration of heartbeat. And it comprises a large amplitude motion analyzing means for deciding the an instantaneous position of the object by using the amplitude and phase of the detected signal and tracking a large amplitude of motion of the object, and a small vibration analyzing means for detecting a small vibration superimposed on the large amplitude motion by analyzing, succeeding positions of the large amplitude motion obtained from the large amplitude motion analyzing means. By using this invention, a local elasticity of width of 1-2 mm in myocardium and arterial wall can be evaluated noninvasively.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 24, 1998Assignee: Japan Science and Technology CorporationInventors: Noriyoshi Chubachi, Hiroshi Kanai, Yoshiro Koiwa

Patent number: 4655083Abstract: A transmitting ultrasonic transducer (20) is excited by high-frequency pulses from a high-frequency pulse generator (1), a leaky elastic surface wave is excited in a sample (6) by a focused ultrasonic beam from the transducer (20), a reradiated wave of the leaky elastic surface wave is received by a receiving ultrasonic transducer (24), the received signal is applied to a mixer (23), wherein the phase difference between the received signal and a reference signal from a high-frequency oscillator (18) in the high-frequency pulse generator (1) is detected, and the detected output is provided as a display signal to a display (9 or 14). The transducers (20) and (24) and the sample (6) are moved by a drive means (7 or 10) relative to each other two-dimensionally in a plane parallel to the sample surface or in a direction perpendicular to the sample surface, and in synchronism with the movement, the display screen of the display (9 or 14) is swept, displaying thereon an ultrasonic microscopic image or a V(z) curve.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1986Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Inventor: Noriyoshi Chubachi

Patent number: 4541281Abstract: An ultrasonic transmitter-receiver for radiating a focused ultrasonic beam and a sample are moved relative to each other in the axial direction of the ultrasonic beam. A reflected wave from the sample is received and a curve V(Z) of variations in the level of the reflected wave with respect to the relative movement is obtained. A reference level of interference of a directly reflected wave and a leaky elastic wave is subtracted from V(Z) to perform waveform processing. The waveform processing output is subjected to a waveform analysis, and from the analysis results, the velocity and/or the attenuation of the leaky elastic wave are calculated.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1984Date of Patent: September 17, 1985Inventors: Noriyoshi Chubachi, Junichi Kushibiki

Patent number: 4501149Abstract: An acoustic emission is detected by a pickup, and its output is converted by a A/D converter into a digital signal, which is provided to a fast Fourier transform processor. The fast Fourier transform processor comprises a cascade connection of a plurality of operation stages, each composed of first and second input memories, a third memory having stored therein a rotation vector and an arithmetic unit for performing a Butterfly operation through using the pipelined architecture. In each stage one of the first and second input memories and the third memory are read out and the Butterfly operation is carried out on the pipelined basis. The operation result is written into that one of the first and second input memories of the next operation stage which has not been read out; thus all the operation stages perform a pipelined operation as a whole. The power of a spectrum obtained as the operation result of the last operation stage is calculated, obtaining a signal corresponding to the acoustic emission.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1983Date of Patent: February 26, 1985Assignee: Asahi Kasei Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Junichi Konno, Yukihiro Ueda, Hiroaki Niitsuma, Noriyoshi Chubachi

Patent number: 4491020Abstract: An ultrasonic microscope is provided wherein a sample placed in a medium is irradiated with a focused ultrasonic wave from a focusing ultrasonic transmitting element and the focused ultrasonic wave is detected by a focusing ultrasonic receiving element. The sample (or the focusing transmitting element and the focusing ultrasonic receiving element) is moved within the X-Y plane, and either the focusing transmitting element or the focusing ultrasonic receiving element is vibrated toward the sample along the beam axis.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1982Date of Patent: January 1, 1985Assignee: Keisuke HondaInventor: Noriyoshi Chubachi

Patent number: 4459852Abstract: An acoustic microscope using a line-focus acoustic beam is disclosed. The line-focus acoustic beam is generated by an acoustic transducer head having an acoustic transducer electrode applied on a flat end surface of a sapphire rod, in the opposite end surface is formed a cylindrical concave surface. The acoustic transducer head is arranged fixedly above a mechanical stage on which a specimen is placed. The mechanical stage is movable in a Z axis, i.e. an axis of the line-focus acoustic beam and is also rotatable about the Z axis. By moving the stage in the Z-axis, a V(z) curve is obtained and a phase velocity of a leaky surface-acoustic wave is calculated from a repetition period of the V(z) curve. Then the V(z) curve measurement is repeated while the stage is rotated, and it is possible to obtain anisotropies of the specimen expressed by a relation between the rotational angle and the phase velocity of the leaky surface-acoustic wave.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1982Date of Patent: July 17, 1984Inventors: Noriyoshi Chubachi, Junichi Kushibiki
