Patent number: 9447737Abstract: In at least some implementations, an apparatus includes a throttle valve rotatable between an first position and a second position, a connection member coupled to the throttle valve and a wire retainer coupled to the connection member. The connection member is adapted to be coupled to a wire that controls rotation of the throttle valve, and the wire retainer is adapted to overlie the wire and inhibit unintended decoupling of the wire from the connection member.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2014Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: WALBRO LLCInventors: Noriyu Nagata, Hiroki Ogasawara, Yoshio Asano, Yoshiaki Douyama

Patent number: 9022363Abstract: In accordance with one implementation, a carburetor includes a body having a fluid passage formed therein and a counterbore located along the fluid passage. The counterbore has a first sealing surface and a central axis, and the body further includes a second sealing surface located radially closer to the central axis than is the first sealing surface. The carburetor also includes a plug affixed to the body at the counterbore and in contact with both of the first and second sealing surfaces. Engagement of the plug with the two sealing surfaces may improve the connection between the plug and carburetor body. In at least some implementations, the plug may be held in place without aid of an adhesive or other secondary connector or connection aid.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2012Date of Patent: May 5, 2015Assignee: Walbro Engine Management, L.L.C.Inventors: Noriyu Nagata, Hidenori Sasaki, Daisuke Sato

Patent number: 6736613Abstract: An acceleration fuel pump for use with a combustion engine carburetor is an integral part of the carburetor body and provides an additional flow of fuel to the fuel-and-air mixing passage of the carburetor during acceleration of the engine. The acceleration fuel pump has a plunger which inserts sealably into a cylindrical cavity carried by the body of the carburetor. During acceleration of the engine, the plunger inserts further into the cavity against the resilient force of a spring and toward a resilient check valve member causing the member to deform into a fuel feed state. A fuel passage which extends between the bottom of a fuel chamber of the carburetor and the fuel-and-air mixing passage of the carburetor is intersected by the cavity and the resilient check valve member.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2002Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Walbro Japan, Inc.Inventor: Noriyu Nagata

Publication number: 20030047818Abstract: A fuel metering assembly for a diaphragm type carburetor has a fuel metering diaphragm with at least two convolutions or annular projections providing greater travel of the diaphragm and more consistent movement of the diaphragm throughout its stroke or travel. In one embodiment, the diaphragm has at least one annular projection generally U-shaped in section projecting toward a fuel metering chamber defined on one side of the diaphragm, and at least one annular projection having a generally inverted U-shape in section projecting toward an atmospheric chamber defined on the other side of the diaphragm. Preferably, the annular projections are continuously provided between the peripheral edge of the diaphragm and a central portion of the diaphragm.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2002Publication date: March 13, 2003Applicant: Walbro Japan, Inc.Inventor: Noriyu Nagata

Patent number: 6394425Abstract: A rotary throttle valve type carburetor including an air intake passage extending through a carburetor body, a cylindrical valve chamber formed perpendicularly to the air intake passage, a throttle valve inserted into the valve chamber, and a throttle valve lever which rotates to impart rotation and axial movement to the throttle valve to thereby regulate the amount of air and fuel drawn through the carburetor. A plurality of circumferentially extending cam surfaces are formed on a bottom face of the throttle valve symmetrical with respect to the axis of the throttle valve, while tapered bores for receiving balls which are adapted to engage with the cam surfaces are formed in a bottom face of the valve chamber. The sliding engagement between the cam surfaces and balls due to rotation of the throttle valve is adapted to provide a predetermined axial movement of the throttle valve.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2000Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Walbro Japan, Inc.Inventor: Noriyu Nagata
