  • Patent number: 6157406
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of generating a motion picture and a still picture. An amount of exposure in a still imaging mode is increased as compared with the amount of exposure for mode is increased as compared with the amount of exposure for one field in the motion picture imaging mode, preferably twice as large as the latter. In the still picture mode, electric charges are swept out from a CCD by an exposure control simultaneously with closing of a diaphragm for adjusting the amount of exposure. Upon occurrence of error in the closing operation of the diaphragm, the amount of exposure in the still picture mode is set to a design value. On the basis of difference between the design value and an actually measured value of the amount of exposure, gain for video signal is corrected. In the motion picture mode, the diaphragm and the electronic shutter speed is adjusted for preventing flicker from making appearance under illumination of a fluorescent lamp in indoor photographing.

  • Patent number: 5617312
Abstract: A computer system replaces an input device, such as a mouse, with a video camera having an image recognizing function and an image extracting function to detect motions of the operator's body directly, and controls a computer apparatus to move a cursor and check on an icon on the basis of the output signals of the video camera. The computer system controls the computer apparatus also on the basis of a signal provided by the video camera upon the detection of light emitted by a particular object. The computer system is capable of making the computer apparatus understand an operator's intention without using any conventional input device, such as a mouse, and of facilitating an operator's input operation.

  • Patent number: 5541651
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus which includes a timing pulse generator, an imager having an effective pixel number requiring a predetermined frequency for the horizontal scanning pulse in order to to produce a video signal having a normal aspect ratio and a video signal processing circuit for processing the signal outputted from the imager to generating a video signal. An electronic zoom signal processing circuit is provided for enlarging the video signal generated by the video signal processing circuit in the horizontal direction. The timing pulse generator supplies the imager with a horizontal pulse having a frequency higher than the predetermined frequency required by the effective pixel number of the image input element and the electronic zoom signal processing circuit enlarges the video signal generated in the horizontal direction to produce a video signal having a normal aspect ratio.
