  • Patent number: 7873798
Abstract: An information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a recording medium, and a program for generating preference information based on consecutively and inconsecutively viewed programs recommends the programs matching a user's preferences. A preference information extraction unit extracts program preference information based on metadata about programs and records a history of viewing of the programs. Preference information about a program that has been viewed for the first time is recorded as special program preference information. User preference information is generated on the basis of information about the preferred programs whose viewing count has exceeded a threshold value. A control unit automatically makes recording reservations of the programs whose viewing count has exceeded the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20100211595
Abstract: The present invention relates to an information search system, an information processing apparatus and method, and information search apparatus and method. A PC extracts, from the mail document transmitted/received by a user, words corresponding to the user's interests and records the interest data. In steps S121 and S122, upon logged in by the user, an HDD recorder requests the acquisition of interest data. On the basis of this request, the PC sends the interest data corresponding to the login user. In steps S123 and S124, the HDD recorder sends the received interest data to a server. In step S131, the server searches for the program information that matches the received interest data. In step S125, on the basis of the program information contained in the search result, the HDD recorder sets the timer-recording of a program. The present invention is applicable to programs which are installed in personal computers.

  • Patent number: 7698300
Abstract: If content having an attribute different from that of content usually used by a user is selected, the present invention allows proper content recommendation in accordance with the selection. When notified from a control block of a selected piece of music, a short-term preference vector generation block gets music vector of that piece of music from a music vector storage block and stores obtained music vector into a short-term preference vector storage block as short-term preference vector. A recommendation block computes a difference between short-term preference vector and long-term preference vector and, by use of a weight based on the computed difference, determines a piece of music to be recommended to a user, thereby recommending the determined piece of music to the user.

  • Patent number: 7587382
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and an information processing method, a recording medium, and a program make it possible to generate a positive history vector and a negative history vector. A negative history vector is generated from initially registered contents. If the initially registered contents are not changed, and an operation log is supplied, whether or not the supplied operation log is a positive history is determined. When the supplied operation log is a positive history, a program vector corresponding to the operation log is additionally stored as a positive history, and a positive history vector is generated from a sum of program vectors. When the supplied operation log is a negative history, a program vector corresponding to the operation log is additionally stored as a negative history, and a negative history vector is generated from a sum of program vectors.
