  • Publication number: 20090217048
Abstract: A method and system for roaming between heterogeneous networks. The method involves authenticating a mobile communication device on a first network, providing the device with a single-use token that can be used to sign-on to a second network without requiring conventional re-authentication over the second network. The method and system allows a token or set of tokens to be sent to a mobile device over a secure and trusted channel. The token can then be sent over another network, operating over a different protocol to an authentication system where its contents are verified and authorization to access the new network is generated such that the token does not need to be processed by the new network. Hence the mobile device does not need to re-authenticate to the new network.

  • Patent number: 7579925
Abstract: A circuit board construction which reduces unwanted electrical effects and lower signal quality resulting from the use of vias in relatively thick circuit boards or in circuit boards carrying signals of relatively high frequency. The circuit board includes a through-hole in the circuit board substrate for carrying a conductive via stub, the stub having an inherent stub characteristic; and a compensation element, such as a surface mount capacitor, positioned on the substrate such that when the stub is carried by the through-hole the inherent stub characteristic is adjusted to define a compensated stub characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20090202069
Abstract: A method, system on a chip, and computer system for generating more robust keys which utilize data occupying relatively small die areas is disclosed. Embodiments provide a convenient and effective mechanism for generating a key for use in securing data on a portable electronic device, where the key is generated from repurposed data and a relatively small amount. A multi-stage encryption algorithm may be performed to generate the key, where the first stage may include encrypting the secure data, and the second stage may include encrypting the result of a logical operation on the encrypted secure data with a unique identifier of the portable electronic device. A secret key may be used as the encryption key for each stage. The result of the second encryption stage may include the generated key which may be used to perform subsequent operations on the portable electronic device.

The telescoping support is mounted on the base portion and includes a bottom member and a top member. The top member is engaged with the bottom member so that the top member has a retracted position and an extended position. The telescoping support is capable of withstanding a force, corresponding to the spinal treatment force, imparted on the top member, while in both the retracted position and the extended position. • Publication number: 20080243993
Abstract: A service controller for providing centralized service management, control and placement, as well as guaranteed failover, in a dynamic and distributed computing environment. The service controller works in conjunction with a computing resource supply manager, which supplies the required resources so that the service controller can run the service on the allocated resources. The number of active service instances may dynamically increase or decrease in accordance with changing availability of or demand for resources. The service controller monitors the service instances and takes appropriate action in the event of service instance failures. The service controller is provided with a service director component, which records and tracks, for each service instance which has been started on a particular resource/host, the IP address of such host, through a name location service, thus allowing end-users to locate the service regardless of where the service instances are physically running.
