  • Publication number: 20050279632
Abstract: Highly hydrophobic compounds and hydrophobic proteins are solubilized in a non-aqueous solvent containing an electrolyte for electrophoretic separation. The non-aqueous solvent is an ionic liquid or a mixture of an organic solvent containing an ionic liquid in an amount to render the solvent electrically conductive and amenable for electrophoretic separation. The hydrophobic proteins are separated by electrophoresis using an electrophoresis gel that is compatible with the organic solvent and ionic liquid.

  • Patent number: 6517598
Abstract: A filter element is provided including a media construction including a corrugated sheet secured to a flat sheet rolled into a coiled construction. The filter element includes a mounting flange secured to the coiled construction. The mounting flange projects radially from the outer, annular surface of the coiled construction. The mounting flange defines at least one fastener socket to allow for axial mounting of the filter element into a housing. An air cleaner includes a housing with filter elements, as described herein, operably installed within. Preferably, the filter element is sealed within suitable housings with a seal, such as a radially directed seal. Preferably, the filter element is secured to the housing by axial mounting of the mounting flange to the housing using fasteners. Methods for installing, assembling, using, and servicing are provided herein.

  • Patent number: 5842038
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting commands from one or more input/output devices to a memory is provided. An identification tag is appended to each command to define the command as either a read or write command. The read commands are separated from the write commands based on the state of the identification tag, and the read and write commands are separately queued. The read commands are stored in a first command queue, and the write commands are stored in a second, separate, command queue. The read commands in the first command queue are successively transferred to the memory upon completion of the current memory read function, and the write commands in the second command queue are successively transferred to the memory upon completion of the current memory write function. The transfer of the read and write commands is independent.

  • Patent number: 4048955
Abstract: Disclosed is a vapor deposition reactor comprising a series of individual gas cells respectively isolated from each other and containing a particular reactive or non-reactive gas required for one stage in a deposition process. Each cell is provided with an independent temperature control. A substrate is mounted on a carrier and transported through the series of individual cells so that vapor depositions or other related processes may be conducted or performed upon the substrate. Chemical vapor deposition processes such as growth of epitaxial layer, deposition of polycrystalline silicon, nitride, oxide or metals on a substrate may be performed within the reactor. The cells are isolated by viscous loss seals formed by the propinquity of restricted openings in the reactor to substrate carrier configuration.
