    Abstract: Optical sensor methods and systems for detecting the edge of an object are disclosed. An optical sensor having dual equal area active regions can be provided, and a uniform light source located opposite the optical sensor, such that an occlusion of light from the uniform light source provides location determination data of an object via the optical sensor regardless of the direction of motion of the occlusion relative to the dual equal area active regions thereof.
