  • Publication number: 20090063383
Abstract: A reasoning system with a reasoning engine that uses a rule set created from a rule representation language that has an English/natural language-like rule syntax and format is discussed. The reasoning system employs a real-time selection algorithm that chooses the rules used to analyze complex data (e.g.: bio-medical research, e-commerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), environmental research & engineering, bio-chemical research and product development, Investment and money management, anything related to research and product development) without suffering exponential performance decreases as the complexity of the analysis increases. The use of the rule representation language enables different domain users to review, create and modify rules without requiring the users to possess an advanced knowledge of programming languages.

  • Publication number: 20080285686
Abstract: An apparatus and method for antenna selection diversity are provided. Antennas are selected by summing moments of space-time block encoded signals received via each respective antenna and selecting at least one antenna with the largest moment sum.

  • Publication number: 20080095267
Abstract: A discrete cosine transform (DCT)-based orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) system is provided with a zero-padding guard interval and MMSE reception. The performance of the DCT-OFDM system with the zero-padding guard interval scheme and the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) receiver over time-varying multipath Rayleigh fading channels is investigated. The results show that employing the proposed DCT-OFDM system rather than the conventional DFT-OFDM system can provide better bit error rate performance in practical systems, by as much as 6 dB in signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Publication number: 20050226342
Abstract: Systems and methods for performing mapping from information symbols to transmission symbols and corresponding de-mapping operations mapping are provided which employ one of a plurality of mappings for a given signal constellation on the basis of information determined from an analysis of the information symbols. For example, different mappings may be employed for various ranges of non-uniformity, entropy, redundancy, memory in the information symbols.
