  • Patent number: 7156097
Abstract: An improved nasal cannula and cannula support structure. In a preferred embodiment, an integrated nasal cannula and cannula support device comprise a semi-rigid mono-lumen cannula design comprising a generally L-shaped mono-lumen strut terminating at its distal end with an oxygen supply barrel. In an alternate embodiment of the present invention designed for use with conventional delivery tube pair cannula designs, a nasal cannula support device includes a ridge pole retainer comprising a generally L-shaped strut having a long leg and a short leg. The cannula support is anchored to the wearer's nose and/or forehead such that the cannula delivery tubes and supply barrel are maintained in fixed alignment regardless of the wearer's head motion.

  • Patent number: 6669712
Abstract: A nasal cannula support device includes a generally L-shaped strut having a long leg and a short leg. The long leg of the device generally conforms to the ridge pole of the nose and is in an angular relationship with the short leg, allowing the short leg to pass around and under the tip of a user's nose. In one embodiment, the short leg includes a curved portion that secures and positions the nasal delivery stubs of an oxygen delivery barrel within a user's nostrils. In other embodiments, a cup-like area of the strut, between the long and short leg, provides finger-like projections that provide similar retention and positioning of the delivery barrel and stubs. The strut may be secured to the user's nose by an adhesive backing, tape, or forming the device to conform, closely, to the user's external nasal contour.

  • Patent number: 6093169
Abstract: A mounting structure for a nasal oxygen catheter elevates and somewhat shortens the tip of the nose of a user to increase the area of the nasal air passages whereby a large quantity of air may enter the nostrils and sweep oxygen into the nostrils with each inhalation of the user. In a preferred embodiment a cup-shaped member snubs the end of the nose and has preferably a plurality of downwardly extending fingers in contact with said catheter.
