Patent number: 6018126Abstract: The in-floor, flush poke-through wiring fitting may be installed in the floor of a structure to enable the activation of power, communication, and/or data services at the fitting location. The poke-through fitting includes an interference shielding barrier to prevent E.M. and R.F. interference with the signal services. The poke-through fitting also includes pre-shaped fire-retarding materials, which are encapsulated to prevent degradation and damage. The poke-through fitting accommodates RJ-45 Category 5 signal jacks such that the faces of the jacks (that is, the faces that may receive selectively, RJ-45 Category 5 connectors) are mounted substantially flush with an upper outwardly facing surface of the fitting.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1998Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Walker Systems, Inc.Inventors: Norman Castellani, John F. Bera, John E. Kohaut

Patent number: 5763826Abstract: A fitting, adapted to fit in a hole formed in a fire-rated floor, to enable activated wires to be connected thereto and therethrough for activation as an outlet. The fitting includes a receptacle which includes a plurality of bus bars adapted to connect and isolate current inputs to enable the fitting to accommodate multiple power plugs for multiple electronic devices. The receptacle further includes plug blade retention contacts adapted to firmly grip, retain, and provide positive contact and connection between plug blades and receptacle outlets. It further includes grounding contacts and wires adapted to effectively ground electronic equipment. The fitting further includes a service head adapted to extend substantially flush with the top of a carpet, to prevent unsafe obstruction of the carpet, and sliding plates adapted to automatically and positively cover receptacle outlets to prevent electrical shock.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1994Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: Raceway Components, Inc.Inventors: Norman Castellani, Harcharan S. Bagga

Patent number: 4827080Abstract: A multiple service fitting for enabling through-floor passage of a plurality of different types of conductors, from a multi-cell underfloor raceway source thereof to an in-floor or above-floor outlet therefor.A mechanism operable from the accessible end of such fitting enables secure engagement thereof with the top walls of the multi-cell underfloor raceway without moving the fitting body portion, to compensate for floor slab deflection.A grommet and conduit extending tube, seated in and projecting from the opening in the top wall of the underfloor raceway cell, isolate and protect conductors passing therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 1987Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Assignees: Norman Castellani, Robert C. Holland, Gerard Holland, Raceway Components, Inc.Inventors: Norman Castellani, Robert C. Holland, Gerard Holland

Patent number: 4770643Abstract: A fitting is provided for enabling a plurality of high and low voltage conductors to be activated thereby at a selected in-floor location therefor. A substantially flush top portion of the in-floor fitting enables efficient access to receptacles pre-wired for enabling connection of high voltage conductors thereto, and prevents tripping thereon. Fire retarding elements mounted in the fitting retard and prevent transmission of excess heat and flame through the fitting and through the floor opening in which the fitting is adapted to be mounted. Movable side plates in the substantially flush top portion of the fitting are automatically biased together so as to cover the top high voltage conductor outlet portion of the fitting when not in use, and are adapted to be readily separated such that openings therein are aligned with openings in the top outlets enabling connection of high voltage conductors thereto.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1986Date of Patent: September 13, 1988Assignees: Norman Castellani, Robert Holland, Raceway ComponentsInventors: Norman Castellani, Robert C. Patent number: 4572923Abstract: A device for enabling cables to be pulled therethrough and through a cellular floor system in which the device is adapted to be mounted, for activating a service fitting at a desired location in the floor. The device is press-fittable into aligned substantially uniform-diameter holes, formed through the slab floor, after setting of the concrete therein, and through an adjacent wall of a raceway cell in an underfloor raceway cellular deck.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1983Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Raceway Components, Inc.Inventors: Norman Castellani, Anthony Holland
