  • Patent number: 5236384
Abstract: A toy with a portion of apparently changeable color includes a normally upright and invertible elongate figure defining a normally opaque upper chamber and an at least partially transparent normally lower chamber. A valve in the figure is movable between an enabling position and a disabling position to control fluid flow communication between the chambers. A volume of colored fluid is disposed in the figure and capable of flowing between the chambers via the valve under the influence of gravity only when the valve is in the enabling position. A spring biases the valve towards the disabling position, and a manually operable portion moves the valve to the enabling position.

  • Patent number: 4231181
Abstract: A dental toy including at least one simulated jaw, and preferably two jaws hinged to each other for movement between open and closed positions. Each jaw carries a series of tooth-retaining means, such as pockets for accommodating the roots of simulated teeth. Each jaw may include a partly circular plate, the tooth-retaining means being located in an arcuate pattern near an edge of the plate. The teeth may be simulated by a soft moldable material, and a mold may be employed to shape the material into teeth. Alternatively, the teeth may be rigid and have simulated cavities fillable with a soft moldable filling compound. One or more simulated dental tools are provided, such as a drill body having changeable drill and brush bits rotatable by a mechanism within the body, a dental mirror, and tooth-holding tongs.

  • Patent number: 4223894
Abstract: A water toy including a float, which may be in the form of a boat, carrying one or more target members. The target members may be mounted on the boat deck and be rotatable or vibratable with respect to the float. A manually-operable pump means has an open end submersible in the water on which the float floats and a nozzle through which a stream of water is directed at the target members. The pump means may include a squeezable bulb between its submersible end and the nozzle, and one way valves may be included in the submersible end and the nozzle. The pump means is removably mountable on the float when not in use.

  • Patent number: 4136480
Abstract: An instructive amusement device for young children that embodies the concept of a puzzle for enhancing the child's intellectual and motor skills by requiring correct assembly of puzzle pieces, and also to stimulate learning about wheeled vehicles that the child can be expected to see in the world around him. The device includes a wheeled wagon on which is supported a vertically oriented rectangular frame having a pocket for receiving and retaining in edgewise juxtaposition a plurality of puzzle pieces each in the form of a flat elongated strip having a length substantially equal to the length dimension of the frame. The puzzle pieces each have fragmentary pictorial representations on each of its two flat surfaces which, when the puzzle pieces are juxtaposed edgewise in the frame in correct order and with correct longitudinal orientation, create on the two opposite surfaces of the assembled puzzle pieces complete pictorial representations of two different views of the body portion of a wheeled vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4081924
Abstract: A yo-yo toy including two circular blocks joined by a pin having a string wound around it. An additional member has portions rotatably mounted on the outer faces of the blocks, so that the additional member moves up and down with the blocks as the yo-yo is used, but does not rotate with the blocks. The additional member may be a human or animal figure, or a representation of a real thing, such as an airplane. The pivots joining the additional member to the blocks are on an axis which may be coaxial with the pin axis, or parallel to and spaced from the pin axis. The additional member may remain above the axis of the pin, may depend below the pin axis, or may extend above and below the pin axis when the blocks are suspended from the string. In the first case, the additional member has a hole through which the string extends.
