  • Patent number: 11952592
Abstract: Organs-on-chips are microfluidic devices for culturing living cells in micrometer sized chambers in order to model physiological functions of tissues and organs. Engineered patterning and continuous fluid flow in these devices has allowed culturing of intestinal cells bearing physiologically relevant features and sustained exposure to bacteria while maintaining cellular viability, thereby allowing study of inflammatory bowl diseases. However, existing intestinal cells do not possess all physiologically relevant subtypes, do not possess the repertoire of genetic variations, or allow for study of other important cellular actors such as immune cells. Use of iPSC-derived epithelium, including IBD patient-specific cells, allows for superior disease modeling by capturing the multi-faceted nature of the disease.

  • Patent number: 11403395
Abstract: A method of using a Dynamic Rule Engine (DRE) with an application. At runtime of the application, the application determines that a trigger point has been reached. The DRE identifies one or more rules associated with the trigger point. Each of the one or more rules defines one or more conditions, and each condition is associated with one or more properties. For each of the one or more rules, the DRE evaluates the one or more conditions defined in the rule. Evaluating a condition includes determining a current value of each of the one or more properties associated with the condition, and comparing the one or more current values to one or more predetermined values. Based on the comparison, the DRE determines whether one or more actions are to be performed. If the one or more actions are determined to be performed, the application performs the one or more actions.

  • Publication number: 20220037914
Abstract: A power supply system which connects a DC consumer to an AC supply includes an AC-DC converter and a UPS. The AC-DC converter has an input to which alternating current from the AC supply is applied and an output at which DC current is developed. The UPS has an input to which direct current from the AC-DC converter is applied and an output at which DC current is developed. The DC current developed at the output of the AC-DC converter and DC current developed at the output of the UPS are applied to the DC consumer selectively in parallel with each other or exclusively to each other.

  • Patent number: 9516814
Abstract: A produce harvester that is operable to utilize a produce collection assembly wherein the produce collection assembly is rotatably moved during the collection of produce from a tree. The produce collection assembly includes a body that is spherical in shape having an upper portion and a lower portion forming an interior volume. The upper portion is rotatably mounted to the lower portion with the lower portion being secured to a conventional mechanical articulating boom that is operable to move the produce collection assembly in three axial directions. The upper portion includes an outer surface that has formed thereon a plurality of longitudinally oriented concave portions. Intermediate the plurality of concave portions are transition ridges. A conical protrusion is integrally formed with the upper portion and extends outward from the upper portion. A plurality of fruit apertures are journaled through the upper portion providing access to the interior volume.

  • Publication number: 20060037067
Abstract: In an exchange of data between a client terminal (1) and a secure database server (2) the data is encoded using positional information generated by a combination generator (7) in a separate security server (3). The positional information is used to produce an image specific to a communication event which is accessed by the client terminal (1) and is the basis for the entry of sensitive data at the client terminal (1). The three-way communication link between the client terminal, database server and security server greatly increases the difficulty of successfully intercepting and decoding the data entered at the client terminal. This method of secure data communication is particularly suited to the communication of password data for example in the banking industry.
