  • Patent number: 4953753
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing for fluids. The apparatus generates its own positive pressure from a prestressed elastomeric material. The dispenser includes a resilient bladder of generally tubular shape having an open end into which an internal prestressing mandrel is inserted to prestress the bladder in both the radial and axial directions. The mandrel has at least three fins joined along longitudinal edges to form a plurality of passages, the bladder being joined or otherwise secured to the mandrel at both ends, and the passages being in communication with a valve means. A simplified valve means for filling and dispensing is also included.

  • Patent number: 4702397
Abstract: A dispenser for fluids includes an elastic bladder having an open end and a closed end and includes a bladder mounting structure for maintaining the bladder in tension. The bladder mounting structure includes a fixed structural element having a convex curved surface. The mounting structure also includes mounting elements for fixing the two ends of the bladder relative the curved surface so that bladder is stretched over the curved surface. A flow controller communicates with the open end of the bladder to regulate the flow of fluid from the bladder. The flow controller includes a body having a fluid flow path through it. A shutoff element in the fluid flow path controls the cross-sectional flow area of the flow path. Movement of the shutoff element is controlled by a mechanism sealed from the fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 4444597
Abstract: A fully automated method and apparatus for cleaning and disinfecting blood dialyzers for reuse. An identification is assigned to the particular dialyzer being cleaned and is stored in machine memory. The number of times the dialyzer identification has been stored is automatically counted and the result is indicated at the time of cleaning. A predetermined sequence of cleaning procedures is provided. The cleaning procedures are automatically machine sequenced. If the dialyzer identification has not been stored before cleaning, the automatic machine sequencing of cleaning steps is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 4444596
Abstract: A fully automated method and apparatus for cleaning and disinfecting blood dialyzers for reuse having multiple stations simultaneously capable of cleaning a plurality of dialyzers. The dialyzer, the station cleaning the dialyzer, and the patient are identified and the identifications are stored in memory. A predetermined sequence of cleaning procedures tailored to the type of dialyzer to be cleaned are provided. The cleaning procedures are automatically machined sequenced, and the sequence is selectively controlled in response to automatic test procedures measuring indicia of dialyzer reusability. The tests performed on the dialyzer include a blood presence test, a pressure leakage test, and an ultrafiltration rate test. If it is determined that the dialyzer is not reusable, it is either cleaned further to make it reusable or machine sequencing of subsequent cleaning procedures is inhibited.
