  • Publication number: 20190170626
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for freezing samples such as tissue specimens, particularly for rapidly freezing multiple specimens without the need to sequentially prepare and freeze each sample individually. The apparatus comprises a mold which can accommodate one or more tissue samples, a hands-free means for supporting the mold, an insulated container for holding a cryogenic material or refrigerant, and an optional cover for the insulated container. The invention also relates to methods for freezing the tissue specimens.

  • Patent number: 5040542
Abstract: A bone biopsy instrument kit includes a hollow needle with an annular cutting edge which is rotated to cut a core of bone sample which is retained in the internal passage of the needle. A semi-circular portion of the needle wall is removable to withdraw the core sample without compressing or otherwise changing the consistency of the sample. The annular cutting edge has a sawtooth configuration with a side rake angle causing bone dust to be expelled radially without contaminating the core sample. An elongated obturator and an elongated trocar may be inserted through the needle to direct the annular cutting edge through tissue and to center and guide the instrument into the surface of the bone.

  • Patent number: 5014361
Abstract: A polyurethane glove having improved tear and puncture resistance is made from the reaction product of an aliphatic diisocyanate, an aliphatic polyether diol having a molecular weight in the range of about 1,000 to about 5,000 and an aliphatic diol containing about 2 to about 6 carbon atoms.

  • Patent number: 5011409
Abstract: An improvement in an unitary preassembled intraoral dam for all dental procedures which comprises an extrudable thermoplastic polyurethane which is the reaction product of an aliphatic diisocyanate, a high molecular weight polyether diol, and a low molecular weight aliphatic diol. The improved polyurethane intraoral dam is impermeable to particles of 10 micrometers or greater, with a high degree of puncture and tear resistance, hemocompatibility, hydrolytic stability, non-cytotoxicity, thus guaranteeing the maintenance of a sterile operative field, and a high degree of prevention of contamination and infection for either patient or practitioner.

  • Patent number: 4828491
Abstract: A unitary preassembled disposable intra-oral rubber dam device comprises an annular resilient frame member such as a resilient plastic cord frame, and an elastic latex membrane, the perimeter of the membrane being secured to the frame member such that the membrane is maintained in substantially the same plane as the frame member. The annular frame member, having a predetermined configuration, has a memory characteristic such that when pressure applied to distort the frame member is relaxed the frame member returns to substantially its predetermined configuration.
