  • Patent number: 4363862
Abstract: An apparatus for fixing powder images to a receptor to provide low gloss copies is provided. The apparatus comprises first and second contacting pressure members that have skewed longitudinal axes with respect to each other. The first pressure member contacts the imaged surface of a receptor and comprises an irregular, non-compliant surface comprising a plurality of randomly sized domed projections. The second pressure member contacts the unimaged surface of a receptor and comprises a compliant surface.

  • Patent number: 4290691
Abstract: An ambient temperature method of fixing pressure-fixable imaging powder to a receptor so as to produce permanent low gloss image and non-image areas on said receptor and an apparatus useful in the method are provided. The method and apparatus each employ two pressure members. The first member has a compliant, textured surface that engages the imaged surface of the receptor. The second member has a non-compliant, textured surface that engages the non-imaged surface of the receptor.

  • Patent number: 4255650
Abstract: A mechanical counting device for use in office machines such as copying machines in which almost all of the operative structure has been integrated into a single component. The surface works in conjunction with a ratchet pawl to count down from a preselected number, the number of completed cycles performed by the office machine. The counter energizes and de-energizes the office machine's operation at the start and finish respectively of this preselected number of cycles. In addition the counter includes a position for the continuous operation of the office machine without counting, and the capability to stop the operation of the office machine without disrupting the counting sequence.
