  • Patent number: 5435517
Abstract: A swing arm bracket assembly includes a shaft having a plurality of journals. One end of the shaft connects to a motor drive shaft. Each journal of the shaft has a bearing thereon and is of approximately the same axial length as the bearing. A support member is provided which connects on one end to a machine and on the other end connects to the motor. The support member also rotatably engages at least one of the bearings on the shaft. A swing arm is provided having an arm portion and a cylindrical sleeve portion extending axially through the support member. The cylindrical sleeve portion rotatably engages at least one of the bearings on the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4932809
Abstract: A coupling device for coupling and decoupling first and second coaxial members comprises an annular member which is supported coaxially on one of the first and second members by means of a bi-directional lost motion connection so as to permit relative rotation of the annular member and the one of the first and second members about the common axis back and forth between first and second positions. A mechanism is provided for automatically adjusting the relative rotational position of the annular member and the one of the first and second members to a position midway between the first and second positions when the first and second members are decoupled, thereby insuring that bi-directional lost rotational motion can be attained during a subsequent coupling operation. The coupling device permits the correction of misalignment of splines on the coupling device and the other of the first and second members to be coupled.

  • Patent number: 4808869
Abstract: A motor with an integral magnetic torque limiting coupling which maintains the relative positions of the motor rotor and a coupling output shaft thereof when the rotor is rotated, and transmits up to a predetermined amount of torque during such rotation, which exceeds the maximum sustained torque which the motor develops during normal operation so as not to interfere with the torque transmission during normal operation of the motor while allowing the output shaft and rotor to slip relative to one another to prevent transmitting a torque above a maximum safe torque which may be safely applied to a gear train to be driven by the motor, thereby preventing damage to the gear train by the motor in the event of a sudden change of speed of the gear train.

  • Patent number: 4768991
Abstract: A slip clutch is provided with three rotatable members disposed in coaxial and concentric relationship with each other. A first rotatable member is provided with a groove in a first cylindrical surface and a second rotatable member is provided with a second groove in a second cylindrical surface. A spherical ball or, alternatively, a roller bearing is disposed in the first and second grooves at their point of intersection. A spline arrangement is provided between the second and third rotatable members to permit these members to move axially with respect to each other but to prevent relative rotational movement between the second and third rotatable members. A bias force is provided by a spring which exerts an axial force against the second rotatable member. The spring can be adjusted to cause a variation in the required torque necessary to cause slippage of the clutch mechanism.
