  • Patent number: 5954374
Abstract: A pipe connector includes a tubular pin member having a generally frusto-conical outer peripheral surface and a tubular box member having a generally frusto-conical inner peripheral surface corresponding to the frusto-conical outer peripheral surface of the pin member and overlies the frusto-conical surface of the pin member when the members are fully engaged together. The members include with inter-engageable annular projections and grooves on the said peripheral surfaces for axially locking the members together when they are fully engaged together, the projections and grooves being spaced apart along the surfaces. Means are provided for supplying hydraulic fluid under pressure between the overlying parts of the surfaces of the members when fully engaged together to expand the box member and/or contract the pin member to bring the projections out of engagement with the corresponding grooves and permit the members to be disengaged.

  • Patent number: 4629221
Abstract: A pipe connector comprises a tubular pin member having an outer generally frusto-conical peripheral surface provided with annular projections, and a tubular box member having an inner peripheral surface corresponding to the peripheral surface of the pin member, which overlies the peripheral surface of the pin member when the members are fully engaged together, and is provided with annular grooves in which the projections on the pin member are engaged. At the inner end of the peripheral surface of the pin member, the pin member is provided with an annular projection extending in the direction of the free end thereof, overlying the peripheral surface thereof and providing a first radially outer radial surface portion and a second radially inner radially inwardly directed surface portion. The free end of the box member is provided with corresponding radial and radially outwardly directed surface portions.

  • Patent number: 4561683
Abstract: A pipe connector which comprises a tubular box member that is telescopically engageable with a tubular pin member, the members having corresponding frusto-conical inner and outer peripheral surfaces which overlie one another when the members are fully engaged together. To axially lock the members together, the frusto-conical surfaces are provided with pairs of interengageable annular projections and grooves. The projections and grooves have varying axial extents and spacings so that, as the members are telescoped together, in all intermediate positions of the members, there is sufficient contact between crests of the grooves and surfaces between the projections to prevent inadvertent premature engagement of a projection with a groove.

  • Patent number: 4525001
Abstract: The pipe connector comprises a pin member and a box member which have outer and inner generally frusto-conical peripheral surfaces which overlie one another when the members are fully engaged together. To axially lock the members together, the surfaces are provided with interengaging annular projections and grooves. For disengagement of the members, pressurized fluid is supplied between the peripheral surfaces through an inlet in the box member. The ends of the peripheral surfaces are sealed, during disengagement, by providing reversely inclined annular surfaces on the free ends of the pin and box members and correspondingly at the roots of the box and pin members. In use of the connector these inclined surfaces are slightly spaced apart and are brought into sealing contact on application of pressurized fluid between the peripheral surfaces.
