  • Publication number: 20220278483
Abstract: An electrical power and/or electronic data unit is mountable in a floor, and is fitted with an upper bezel that is openable and closable to provide selective access to an interior of the unit, which is optionally fitted with one or more electrical power or data outlets. A lower insert including an intumescent block is supported below an upper housing, and is angularly adjustable relative to the upper housing. One or more bores or openings formed in the lower insert allow the passage of cords into a pass-through opening in the upper housing, and out through an upper bezel cover.

  • Patent number: 11424561
Abstract: An electrical receptacle includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a power control unit coupled to the PCB, AC electrical conductors, and an electrical receptacle coupled to the PCB. The electrical contacts are in electrical communication with respective ones of the electrical conductors. A first portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to a power source and a second portion of each electrical conductor is coupled to respective ones of the electrical contacts. The power control unit includes a controller and a switch, the switch operable to selectively establish continuity between the first and second portions of at least one of the electrical conductors. The controller is configured to selectively place the switch into either a closed position or an open position in response to a signal received from an environmental or occupancy sensor.

  • Publication number: 20220239045
Abstract: A modular electrical system with electrical and/or data outlets provides an unobtrusive power and/or data source that can be routed along a floor, a table or other work surface in a work area. The modular system includes a plurality of electrical wiring modules, a plurality of junction modules each having multiple outputs, and a plurality of electrical power or data units connected to the junction modules and to surfaces in the work area. Optionally, a modular floor runner system is assembled together from rigid floor runner modules interposed with junction modules, with one or more flexible branch extensions selectively coupled to any desired junction module. The floor runner modules and junction modules include housings that protect electrical wiring held internally, while being minimally intrusive for use in walking areas. Optionally, a table mounted modular electrical system is connectable to a floor runner system, and vice versa.

  • Publication number: 20220200292
Abstract: An electrical outlet for a recreational vehicle includes a high voltage AC electrical power receptacle and a low voltage DC electrical power receptacle that is powered independently of the high voltage AC receptacle so that the DC receptacle can remain energized when the AC receptacle is disconnected from an AC power supply. The DC and AC receptacles, located at the same electrical outlet, are wired separately to different power sources. This allows the recreational vehicle's electrical storage batteries to continue energizing the DC receptacle, at the same outlet as the AC receptacle, even when it is not possible or desirable to energize the AC receptacle. Therefore, limited functionality can be maintained at the outlet even when no AC mains, onboard generator, or AC-to-DC inverter is connected or in operation.

  • Publication number: 20220123554
Abstract: A plug-in power distribution unit is readily installable, removable, and replaceable by skilled or non-skilled persons. The units include one or more conventional electrical power plugs for engaging a conventional wall outlet or the like, and one or more proprietary electrical power connectors for engaging with a compatible connector of a modular electrical power system. Optionally, multiple circuits may be accommodated by the plug-in power distribution unit.

  • Patent number: 11309658
Abstract: An electrical power and/or electronic data unit is mountable in a floor, and is fitted with an upper bezel that is openable and closable to provide selective access to one or more electrical power or data outlets. A bezel supports one or more shutters that are movable between open and closed positions. Optionally, the shutters are supported on an openable main door that provides additional access to the outlets when the main door is open. The main door can be closed and opened with the shutters in either the open or closed positions. Respective top surfaces of the shutters, the main door, and the bezel may be co-planar when the main door and shutters are closed, and the shutters may be hidden entirely beneath the main door when the main door is closed and the shutters are open.

  • Patent number: 11251562
Abstract: An electrical power or electronic data unit includes an outer housing and an inner housing that is insertable into the outer housing. The outer housing has an outer front face panel defining an outer receptacle opening and the inner housing has an inner rear housing portion plus an inner front face portion defining an inner receptacle opening aligned with the outer receptacle opening. A circuit board substrate is positioned inside the inner housing with an electrical contact mounted to the board substrate and aligned with and accessible through the inner and outer receptacle openings. A contact support extends rearwardly from the inner front face portion adjacent the inner receptacle opening, the contact support serving to limit movement of the electrical contact during insertion of a plug or prong into engagement with the electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 11206077
Abstract: A power and data housing assembly includes a housing body configured to retain and support an electrical device assembly in the form of a radio frequency (RF) transmitter. The RF transmitter is configured to emit a transmitted RF signal that contains one of data transmissions and power transmissions, and acts as a repeater and/or range-extender or signal redirector for directing wireless power and/or data signals into regions of work areas that otherwise would receive only marginal signals, or none at all.

  • Publication number: 20210328414
Abstract: An electrical outlet assembly is mountable in a floor or work surface, and includes an upper bezel and a lower insert that are joined in a non-rigid manner that permits some adjustment to the spacing and/or tilt of the upper bezel relative to the lower insert. The upper bezel and lower insert are joined together by a plurality of fasteners extending between a plurality of fastener receivers coupled to the upper bezel, and to the lower insert. At least one end of each coupling fastener is loosely captured in such a way that when the coupling fasteners are fully secured, they are permitted to move axially relative to the fastener receiver or the lower insert. This allows the lower insert to be repositionable in its axial direction relative to the upper bezel, and also permits the lower insert to be tilted out of alignment with the upper bezel.
