  • Patent number: 5998701
Abstract: Potato plants which exhibit reduced levels of .alpha. glucan L-type tuber phosphorylase (GLTP) or .alpha. glucan H-type tuber phosphorylase (GHTP) enzyme activity within the potato tuber are provided. The conversion of starches to sugars in potato tubers, particularly when stored at temperatures below 7.degree. C., is reduced in tubers exhibiting reduced GLTP or GHTP enzyme activity. Reducing cold-sweetening in potatoes allows for potato storage at cooler temperatures, resulting in prolonged dormancy, reduced incidence of disease, and increased storage life. Methods for producing potato plants which produce tubers exhibiting reduced GLTP or GHTP enzyme activity are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5871564
Abstract: A pressure swing adsorption apparatus to vary selectively the concentration of at least one constituent of a gaseous mixture by sending a gaseous mixture into an adsorber to generate a particular product gas while delivering to another adsorber both a predetermined portion of the product gas to purge the other adsorber of its adsorbed gas and a selected amount of the product gas, independent of the flow rate and in addition to the predetermined portion, to produce a desired relative concentration of the constituents of the product gas from a range of relative concentrations.

  • Patent number: 5448372
Abstract: A storage and retrieval mechanism for a digital image processing system employs a reduced capacity frame store in the playback device. A plurality of photographic images captured on a photographic recording medium are digitized for processing and subsequent display. Digitized images are stored on a compact disc. When the disc is inserted into a playback device for driving a color TV monitor, the playback device decodes header information representative of image orientation, so that the image will be read from the disc and stored in the reduced capacity frame store for subsequent read out and display in an upright orientation. A memory control mechanism employs a decimation/interpolation operator to interface the imagery data from the disc to the frame store.

  • Patent number: 4109194
Abstract: A digital feedback control for a switching regulator utilizes interrelated digital counting circuits to provide a combined proportional, integral and differential feedback. By generating a simultaneous interrelated feedback signal, the response time of the feedback control is improved and a significant reduction in circuit elements is permitted.

  • Patent number: 3951500
Abstract: A circular electrical connector of the type having mating plug and receptacle members, one of the members being spring mounted on a rigid rack and the other being mounted on heavy electronic equipment to be housed in the rack and electronically interconnected to external conductors through the connector, the members being equipped with horizontally positioned alignment support means which prevent mating engagement of the members until they are in proper axial alignment. The alignment means also support the weight of the equipment associated with the plug or receptacle member to prevent damage to the electrical contacts housed therein. The alignment means are located radially outwardly of the mating shells of the connector so as to permit connection of the receptacle member to a test connector having a standard coupling ring with helically shaped bayonet pin accommodating slots.
