    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for enhancing interoperability of a plant. Such systems and methods include a carbon emission, capture, transport, and usage model. The carbon emission, capture, transport, and usage model is capable of modeling interrelationships of inputs, outputs, and requirements between a carbon emitting plant, the carbon capture process, a carbon transportation system, and a carbon usage system. The carbon emitting plant is capable of producing a product having a carbonaceous substance. The carbon capture process is capable of capturing at least a portion of the carbonaceous substance from the product as a carbonaceous gas. The carbon transportation system is capable of transporting the carbonaceous gas from the carbon capture process to the carbon usage system. The carbon usage system is capable of receiving the carbonaceous gas transported by the carbon transportation system.

    Abstract: A diesel locomotive includes a number of auxiliary subsystems operating in conjunction with the locomotive diesel engine and deriving their energy, from the diesel engine. Included among the subsystems are various cooling systems, the battery charging system, and the electrical generation system, comprising one or more alternators drivingly coupled to the engine shaft. Each of the subsystems includes a component that is activated when one or more operational conditions associated with the subsystem are met. For instance, an engine cooling system fan motor is activated when the coolant temperature exceeds a predetermined value. Similarly, a battery charger is activated when the battery voltage falls below a predetermined value, and an alternator blower is activated when the main or auxiliary alternator temperature exceeds a predetermined value.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a system that makes high quality gypsum from a dry flue gas desulfurization process which utilizes a low temperature regeneration of the carbon adsorbent in the flue gas process. The high quality gypsum is easily filterable with large crystal size and has high purity with few contaminants, such as calcium sulfite and heavy metals. This invention is also directed towards a system that regenerates the carbon used in dry flue gas desulfurization at a temperature below 120.degree. C. and the recycling of sodium hydroxide to form a sodium sulfite reducing solution for carbon adsorbent regeneration.
