  • Publication number: 20200231838
Abstract: Functionalizable nanopatterned monolayers comprise one or more block copolymers, each containing one or more hydrophobic blocks and one or more hydrophilic blocks. The one or more hydrophilic blocks of at least one of the block copolymers can be terminated by a modifiable functional group, to which a functional moiety, such as a biological molecule, can be attached. The surface concentration of the modifiable functional groups on the monolayer can be controlled by adjusting the properties of the block copolymers, such as their size, their chemical makeup, and the relative proportion of the block copolymer containing the modifiable functional group, and the conditions, such as surface pressure, under which the monolayer is formed and/or transferred to a substrate. The nanopatterned monolayer can be transferred to a substrate to form a functionalizable nanopatterned nanocoating, which is useful in applications such as biosensors.

  • Patent number: 9142018
Abstract: A method for determining the three-dimensional location of an object in real-time from a two-dimensional medical image obtained with a medical imaging system is provided. For example, the three-dimensional location of an interventional medical device or a marker positioned on such a device may be determined from a two-dimensional x-ray image obtained with an interventional x-ray imaging system. Template images corresponding to the object under different imaging geometries and orientations are produced and are compared to images acquired with the medical imaging system. Similarity measures, such as normalized cross correlation and normalized similarity integral, are used to determine the similarity between a selected template image and the medical images in different stages of refining the position information for the object.

  • Publication number: 20140029720
Abstract: A movable device holds a radiation protection drape for reducing exposure and protecting medical personnel from hazardous X-ray radiation scattered by the patient during fluoroscopy. The device enables positioning an X-ray opaque drape such that it covers the patient in an anatomically and procedurally compatible ways that reduces significantly the scattered radiation towards the operators. The device is capable of repositioning the X-ray opaque drape according to the C-arm movement to prevent interfering with the X-ray beam and the fluoroscopy image. The device is simple to use, reusable, and intended for the invasive, diagnostic and interventional procedure done in the catheterization laboratory.

  • Patent number: 6496716
Abstract: A method for stabilizing and optimizing angiogram cine runs. The method for stabilizing involves reducing abrupt motion from the last frame to the first frame by refining the choice of the estimates of first and last frame indices provided by the user and by performing image registration so that a feature of interest is nearly in the same position between the last and first frame. According to another aspect, a network accessible system for storing and playing back angiographic images and presenting patient information is provided. The most diagnostically relevant subset of frames are extracted from selected cine runs and made available over a wide area network (WAN) such as the Internet.

  • Patent number: 5186653
Abstract: A smoke alarm attachment which connects between a battery, used to provide power to the smoke alarm's circuitry and a battery connector of the smoke alarm. The attachment has a plug which, when pulled, interrupts the power to the smoke alarm thereby silencing the smoke alarm's warning device. The attachment provides an easy means for elderly and handicapped people to deactivate and reactivate smoke alarms that have been triggered by false sources of smoke, such as cigarette smoke or smoke produced by cooking.
