Abstract: A light assembly for a swimming pool which has a stair assembly and a pump recirculating water in the swimming pool, the system comprising a motion detector which is located proximate the stair assembly, a light mounted proximate the stair assembly, and a generator arranged to generate electricity from the circulating water, the arrangement being such that when the motion detector detects motion on the stairs, the light is activated for a predetermined period of time. The system can function as a safety system, both from the point of view of providing illumination for the pool user and also as a visual alarm in the instance where children activate the system.

Abstract: A door ladder assembly for use with the an above ground swimming pool, the assembly comprising a ladder having a plurality of steps, a door with a first side hingedly connected to one side of the ladder and arranged to hingedly move between open and closed positions, a handle being located at the top portion of the door, and a door lock to lock the door in a closed position, the door being provided with a lock operator to unlock the lock, the lock operator being located proximate the handle. The arrangement provides for easy access for an adult, while preventing a child from having access to the unlocking mechanism.

Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a porthole assembly adapted to be mounted in registry with an opening in a swimming-pool wall; the assembly comprises a lamp unit holder ring mounted to the outer face of the wall and a transparent cover plate disposed on the inner face of the swimming pool wall. The elements which secure the holder ring and the cover plate to the wall have tool-engaging ends accessible from outside the pool; their opposite ends are received in a water-tight arrangement on the cover plate so as to avoid all contact with the water of the pool. The engagement of the lamp unit to the holder ring is such that the light emitted is directed towards the bottom of the pool. The porthole assembly may be mounted to the wall of an above-ground swimming-pool as well as to an in-ground swimming-pool.
