  • Publication number: 20100065034
Abstract: A fuel conversion adapter (20) is provided that fits on a valve assembly for a stove or other burning appliance and permits the fuel conversion adapter to attach to a different fuel canister. A swiveling connector (32) is provided between a valve connector (28) and an engagement collar (34) so that the engagement collar may be properly aligned with a valve on the burner and the valve connector may be arranged as desired to align a fuel canister attached thereto.

  • Publication number: 20090280447
Abstract: A burning appliance having a burner assembly including a burner for providing combustion is disclosed. The appliance includes a fuel tip for supplying fuel to the burner assembly and a fuel control and cleaning assembly cooperating with the fuel tip to permit control of fuel supplied to the burner and cleaning of the fuel tip while the appliance is in operation. The cleaning assembly may be formed on the appliance itself and may incorporate a cleaning element, a cleaning element control mechanism and a heat dissipating interface positioned with respect to the cleaning element and the cleaning element control mechanism such that a user may control the cleaning element with the cleaning element control mechanism without the use of gloves or other protective equipment while the appliance is in operation.

  • Patent number: 7055466
Abstract: A portable instant water heater. Water is delivered to a base unit of the instant hot water heater by a pump that draws water from a reservoir through a flow control valve. The water flows into a pre-heater that wraps around a base of the burner and that is heated by the burner. Water is heated in a heat exchanger and then exits the base unit through an outlet spout that swings out from the base unit to dispense water and that may be stored and locked into position in a handle for the base unit. The flow control valve may lower the flow of water through the heat exchanger, so the water has more time to absorb heat and to get hotter. The base unit includes a single control knob that turns on the pump and the burner and operates the flow control valve.

  • Patent number: 7014459
Abstract: A lantern which may be manipulated between a closed position in which it surrounds a mantle or mantles for the lantern to a second, opened position in which the globe has been moved or otherwise manipulated to provide access to the mantle or mantles. As an example, the globe may slide upward relative to the mantles so as to expose the mantles for changing. A globe for the lantern includes a frosted band located on a circumference radially outward from the mantle or mantles. The frosted band minimizes glare from the lantern, and the combination of the frosted band and clear sections located above and below the band provide illumination substantially equal to a clear globe.

  • Patent number: 6848809
Abstract: A lantern having a compact configuration. The lantern has a generally cylindrical shape with a lower housing containing a fuel tank, a shut-off valve and a regulator. A cap at the base of the lower housing can be removed, providing access to the fuel tank. The fuel tank is refillable via a fuel fill valve arranged at the base of the tank. A burner tube is coupled to the regulator and extends upwards beyond the housing. A mantle is removably coupled to the upper end of the burner tube. A generally conical reflector is arranged around the burner tube below the mantle and above the regulator. A glass globe is arranged around the burner tube/mantle assembly and a ventilator cap is arranged above the globe. The ventilator cap attaches to rails which extend up from opposite sides of the lower housing and can be readily removed to access the mantle.

  • Publication number: 20040214121
Abstract: A mantle assembly including a holder, a mantle clip, and a mantle. The holder includes first and second abutment portions for biasing or otherwise holding end portions of the mantle clip so that an opening of the mantle clip is held in an open position. The end portions are held such that once the open portion of the mantle clip is placed onto a mantle base, the holder may be pulled away or otherwise manipulated so that the end portions slide out of or off of the abutment portions and the mantle clip may attach to the mantle base. The attachment of the mantle clip to the mantle base may be formed, for example, by the end portions biasing back into position after being released by the mantle holder, so that the middle portion becomes smaller and locks around the mantle base.

  • Patent number: 6739241
Abstract: A drip coffee maker that may be used over an open flame, such as a flame from a camping stove. The coffee maker may include an upper portion having conventional automatic drip coffee maker components. To protect the upper portion components, a base for the coffee maker is designed to direct the open flame away from the plastic components and to dissipate heat from the open flame so that the plastic components will not burn. In addition, the coffee maker includes a wrap assembly and heat sink that are arranged to fit around a decanter for the coffee maker, and which are configured to dissipate heat from the flame and away from the upper coffee maker components.

  • Patent number: 6733282
Abstract: A fuel delivery system and burner for a torch. Fuel passes from a regulator into a tube that extends through the path of a flame that is produced by the burner. The tube preferably is shaped into a coil around the area of the flame so that the coil is heated by the flame. The heated coil assures that liquid fuel in the coil is vaporized as it passes through the coil. In addition, the coil may act as a flame spreader. A burner tube includes an internal passage and an outer passage. Fuel vapor flows through each of these passages, and escapes the burner tube at a distal end. The outer flow of gas is slow, and does not aspirate air, causing the flame to remain attached to the burner and to burn yellow. The inner flow of gas adds velocity, helping the burner flame to be wind resistant.
