  • Patent number: 7545806
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for logging an end terminal in a packet data network (AN), which supports the mobility of terminals. An address for the receipt of data packets is assigned to the terminal (UE) as follows: the terminal (UE) transmits an identification (IMSI) that has been allocated to it to the network (AN), via a mobile radio telephone communication system (PLMN) and the address (NI:IMSI) is then calculated according to a standard method by the terminal (UE) and by the network (AN, RAN), using the identification (IMSI).

  • Patent number: 7146177
Abstract: The invention relates to a radio access network (RAN) for a mobile radio communications system and to an operating method therefor. The radio access network has a number of first nodes (UPS1, UPS2,), which are each assigned to a subarea (A, a) of a geographical area, and which serve for exchanging useful data between terminals (UE), which are located in the relevant subarea, and a primary network (CN). The radio access network also has at least one second node (RCS1, RCS2), which comprises a number of signaling functionalities (UEF) for exchanging signaling data with the each respective terminal (UE). The second node (RCS1, RCS2, . . . ) is connected to a number of first nodes (UPS1, UPS2, . . . ) in order to exchange signaling data with a terminal (UE) via those first nodes (UPS1, UPS2, . . . ) with which this terminal (UE) exchanges useful data.

  • Publication number: 20040095959
Abstract: The invention relates to an access network for transmitting data packets between a network (NW) and a terminal (UE) via a radio communication system, and to a method for operating the same. The access network (AN) comprises a number of nodes (UPS) that are each linked with at least one radio station of the radio communication network and that are adapted to convert data stemming from the network (NW) to a format that is compatible with the transmission in the radio communication system. A permanent first address is defined for the terminal (UE). Data packets that are directed to the first address are forwarded to the address of a processor (VMH) allocated to the terminal (UE), said processor emulating the terminal (UE) in the access network and tracing its movement. The processor behaves towards the network (NW) as a mobile terminal that is compatible with a mobility protocol (Mobile IP, Cellular IP, IPv6).

  • Publication number: 20040081128
Abstract: A mobile station communicates in a communication network formed of a core network and a radio access network with at least one first and one second radio network control device. The management of the mobile station or the transmission of data to be transmitted to the mobile station is handed over from the first radio network control device to the second radio network control device. To facilitate relocation, data that arrive after handover at the first radio network control device or that are temporarily stored there are transmitted to corresponding functionality of the second radio network control device using a functionality of the first radio network control device and are forwarded from the second radio network control device to the mobile station.
