    Abstract: Fluid-sealing gasket sheet materials are described herein which seal particularly well against polar liquids. These gasketing sheets have from about 5 to about 20% fiber, and at least about 62% filler, and a reduced binder concentration, containg about 18% by weight of binder or less, allowing the binder to be reduced even to zero. The filler must be at least about 3% by weight of a gel-forming mineral filler. In addition to giving from good to very excellent seals against polar liquids, this gasketing also has good torque retention and creep resistance.

    Abstract: A water reaction synthesis with polyoxyethylene diol, diisocyanate and dibutyltin bis lauryl mercaptide produces a high molecular weight thermoplastic polyurethane-urea linear polymer with surface resistivity 10.sup.11 -10.sup.6 ohm/sq. Thermoplastic and/or elastomeric antistatic compositions containing other melt processable polymers and/or filler, and the polymer exhibit permanent protection. Antistatic protection can be increased when the polymer complexes with a metal salt such as lithium chloride, or lithium acetate. The composition is useful in the manufacture of antistatic floor coverings and textile texturing and drafting elements such as cots and aprons.

    Abstract: A composition is described which is prepared so that it has a low electrical resistivity so that it can be used in electrostatic discharge operations. The composition includes carbon-coated fibers. The fiber is characterized in that it is a Lewis base while the carbon powder is a Lewis acid. The carbon-coated fiber is held together with a binder (such as a latex or resin). The binder may be either neutral or acidic. A resin can also be used to prepare rigid electrostatic discharge objects. When a resin is used, the resin should also be neutral and preferably, is acidic.
