    Abstract: A transfer device for transferring small items from one conveyor belt to another includes a plurality of independent wedge-shaped sections, supported by at least one rod. A tapered end of each section is preferably positioned proximate a moving conveyor belt. Each wedge-shaped section includes a substantially smooth continuous surface extending across the gap between the conveyor belts. The smooth surfaces are coplanar with the surfaces of the belts and help prevent tipping of items transferred.
