  • Patent number: 5885491
Abstract: Methods of increasing storage stability of lipidic nucleus nanocapsules comprising adding a monosaccharide cryoprotective agent into the aqueous dispersion of the nanocapsules while maintaining gentle stirring until the same dissolves totally. Afterwards, freezing said dispersion thus obtained at a temperature of not less than -40.degree. C. for about 2 to 4 hours, and the eliminating the water by heating progressively to a temperature of about 35.degree. C. at reduced pressure, whereby a stable lyophilized product is obtained. The obtained product can be conveniently reconstituted by adding water or a more complex aqueous solution thereto. The nanocapsules have use in medicine, pharmacy, cosmetics, chemical industry, agriculture, and veterinary science.

  • Patent number: 5851452
Abstract: The process comprises: (1) preparing a fine dispersion of droplets or particles which contain, or are formed, of a chemical or biologically active substance in a phase comprised of a solvent and a non solvent of the polymer forming the coating and, optionally, a surfactant or suspending agent; (2) preparing a phase which contains the coat-forming polymer dissolved in a miscible solvent in any relationship with the prior dispersion, (3) mixing both phases continuously while maintaining constant the relationship between the phases and the mixture volume, and simultaneously spraying the resultant mixture in an evaporation system with temperature and vacuum conditions which provide for the instantaneous evaporation of the solvent from the polymer, causing the deposition of the polymer around the particles or droplets. Applications to pharmacy, medicine, cosmetics, veterinary, chemical industry, agriculture are discussed.

  • Patent number: 5698219
Abstract: A pharmaceutical vehicle which is a nanoemulsion is formulated using 0.1-10 % (w/v) of an oil; 0.1-10% (w/v) of a non-ionic surface active agent; a maximum of 0.01% (w/v) of benzalkonium chloride; a drug or a precursor or active substance; and optionally, one or more of the following components; isotonizing agents, viscosity modifying agents, stabilizers, buffers and/or antioxidants. The vehicle is prepared by emulsification of an aqueous phase which contains a non-ionic surface active agent with an organic phase containing dissolved therein an oil and the drug, drug precursor or active substance in an organic water miscible solvent and then totally removing by evaporation the organic solvent and part of the water up to the final desired volume. The vehicle is especially useful in ophthalmic preparations used to treat eye disorders and diseases.
