Abstract: A method for quickly booting a personal computer system using a Flash Memory device. A compressed memory image of the contents of the system working memory when the system is in a desired operational state is stored in the Flash Memory. The image can be captured during a set-up process or when the computer system is shut down. When the user restarts the computer the memory image is decompressed and loaded into the working memory. This places the computer in an operational state in a very short space of time.
