  • Publication number: 20220398733
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described herein for disease detection using an analyte-agnostic approach. Such systems, apparatuses, and methods can include using an array with hydrogels disposed on a substrate, where the hydrogels include one or more polymerized monomers and one or more photoinitiators or photocleavage products thereof. One or more samples including one or more unlabeled analytes can be contacted with an array of polymers. The samples disposed on the array can be incubated for a first predetermined period of time, and heated at a predetermined temperature for a second predetermined period of time. An imaging device (e.g., flatbed scanner) can be used to measure an amount of one or more colorimetric or luminescence signals produced by the array after the incubating and heating. A neural network trained using the samples can then be used to predict a diagnostic or disease class for the sample.

  • Publication number: 20200347380
Abstract: A method and separation device for removing PCR inhibitors from whole blood or plasma/serum, is provided. The disclosed embodiments include the separation device; and system for removing PCR inhibitors and separating PCR inhibitors from nucleic acids, such as DNA or RNA, and the other components found in whole blood or plasma/serum samples, and methods of making and using the same, so that uncontaminated DNA/RNA is replicated. The separation device comprises: a receptacle for holding whole blood, serum or plasma samples; and a physical substrate for binding and removing one or more PCR inhibitors from the sample matrices, and glass capillary tubes. Physical substrates comprise, e.g. a crosslinked copolymer comprising acrylamide and N,N?-Methylenebisacrylamide, and one or more derivatives of acrylamide and acrylate with glycerol; and non-acrylamide based polymers such as sodium alginate or polyvinyl alcohol with agarose. And the receptacle comprises, e.g.

  • Patent number: 10325183
Abstract: An improved system and method for digital image classification is provided. A host computer having a processor is coupled to a memory storing thereon reference feature data. A graphics processing unit (GPU) having a processor is coupled to the host computer and is configured to obtain, from the host computer, feature data corresponding to the digital image; to access, from the memory, the one or more reference feature data; and to determine a semi-metric distance based on a Poisson-Binomial distribution between the feature data and the one or more reference feature data. The host computer is configured to classify the digital image using the determined semi-metric distance.
