The method includes fastening a cleaning plate to the brake disc; releasing at least one brake unit; moving the brake disc and the brake unit relative to one another so that the cleaning plate is moved past a brake pad of the brake unit while making applied contact engagement to the brake pad; and, dismounting the cleaning plate from the brake disc.
