  • Patent number: 7393880
Abstract: A radically polymerizable composition comprising: a first component A comprising at least an oligomer having at least two radically polymerizable functions and the homopolymer of which has a glass transition temperature (Tg) lower than 50° C., such a component being able to result through polymerization in a (co)polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) equal to or lower than 50° C., preferably equal to or lower than 0° C. and more preferably ranging from ?50° C. to ?10 C.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2002
Date of Patent: July 1, 2008
Assignee: Essilor International Compagnie Generale d'Optique
Inventors: Gilles Richard, Odile Primel, Leanirith Yean
  • Patent number: 7022268
Abstract: A lens has at least one insert (16, 28), which defines an optical path. For manufacturing the lens, the insert is first bonded to an overmould (36). A polymer (44) is then moulded in a mould (42, 36) formed on one of its faces from the overmould. After moulding, the overmould may be preserved and form part of the lens, if necessary after surface grinding. The overmould may also be separated from the lens; in this case, the lens is machined, removing at least part of the inserts. The lens obtained has an insert in a reproducible position, with an entrance or exit surface inducing no optical distortion.

Date of Patent: April 4, 2006
    Assignee: Essilor International
Inventors: Odile Primel, Maxime Pillie, Tony Dantas De Morais, Leanirith Yean
  • Publication number: 20060055070
Abstract: The method comprises photopolymerizing by means of a light radiation of the visible and/or near UV field of a composition free of mineral particles, comprising at least one photopolymerizable monomer and at least one photoinitiator selected amongst suberone derivatives and mixtures of ?-diketone and an organic peroxide. Application to the manufacture of ophthalmic lenses.
