Abstract: A computer system, computer readable storage medium, and computer-implemented method for retrograding an instruction stream to enhance random test generation. The method includes generating a test case for a design-under-test (DUT) comprising positioning one or more placeholder instructions in the test case. The method also includes identifying one or more benefiting instructions. The method further includes executing the test case by replacing the one or more placeholder instructions with one or more respective retrograding instructions. The one or more retrograding instructions influence the one or more benefiting instructions.

Abstract: A method for flexible test program generation is described that alters previously used resources. The method includes scanning, by a test generator, a set of instructions that have been executed by a system under test (SUT) using a reference model of the SUT. The method further includes identifying, by the test generator, a resource for using in a test program by determining an allocation of a first value to the resource by a subset of instructions from the set of instructions, wherein the first value of the resource is not used after the allocation. The method further includes modifying the subset of instructions to allocate a second value to the resource, and adding to the set of instructions, at least one instruction that uses the second value to perform a predetermined operation. The SUT is tested based on a result of the predetermined operation that uses the second value.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for generation of a test suite in order to validate compliance of a process with its process specification. The methodology involves a formal description of the process using a flowchart, refinement of the flowchart to include misinterpretations of the process specification, defining compliance coverage models over the flowchart, and automatically generating test case scenarios that cover the models. Internal and external types of misinterpretation are distinguished. A compliance test suite is automatically generated and observations made of the details of the traversal through the flow chart when the tests are executed.
