Abstract: A cord lock including a body containing a passage through which two cords extend, and a slide received at least partially within the passage and movable relative to the body between a locking position retaining the cords against longitudinal movement and a released position permitting such movement, with the body having a wall defining a side of the passage laterally adjacent one of the cords and containing a slot through which that cord is movable laterally or transversely of its length out of the passage and to the exterior of the body to enable complete detachment of one of the cords from the body when desired.

Abstract: A device for retaining two cords, which may be opposite ends of a single cord, against longitudinal movement in a predetermined direction, and including an actuating member connected to a body for pivotal movement between locking and released positions, and two separate locking members carried by the actuating member for pivotal movement therewith and engaging the two cords respectively to retain them against movement. Each of the locking members is also free for pivotal movement relative to the actuating member and relative to the other locking member in a manner automatically tightening the grip on the corresponding cord in response to the application of longitudinal pulling force to the cord. The actuating member and locking members are connected to the body of the device by a pivot pin which extends between two side walls of the body and through a tubular mounting portion of the actuating member and is preferably retained in assembled position by a snap detent arrangement.

Abstract: A device for retaining a cord or other elongated flexible element against relative longitudinal movement including a first member to which an actuating member is mounted for relative pivotal movement between locking and released positions, and a locking member carried by the actuating member for swinging movement therewith, and for swinging movement relative thereto, to clamp a cord or cords against the first member, with the latter preferably containing a recess having an essentially curving wall against which the locking member presses the elongated element in locking condition, and with the curving wall preferably being defined by a series of teeth following a curving pattern. The device may lock two spaced cords or cord ends, which may be directed to properly located positions between the gripping members by reception within spaced locating recesses in the locking member and by reception at opposite sides of a locating projection carried by the first mentioned member.

Abstract: A device for gripping an elongated flexible element, such as a flexible belt, and including a first member, an actuating member mounted to swing relative to the first member between locking and released positions, and a locking member connected to the actuating member for swinging movement therewith and acting in the locking position to clamp the elongated element against a gripping portion of the first member in a relation retaining the elongated element against longitudinal movement, with said locking member being free for limited pivotal movement relative to the actuating member in a relation acting to progressively tighten the grip on said elongated element as a result of said pivotal movement of the locking member relative to the actuating member when the latter is in its locking position.

Abstract: A device for locking one or more cords or other flexible elements against longitudinal movement, and including two members interconnected for relative pivotal movement between locking and released positions, with one of the members having a portion which is slightly laterally deflectible upon assembly of the device to permit movement of a pivot lug into a pivot recess to form the pivotal connection between the members, and with the other member having an interlocking projection which in the locking relative position of the members blocks lateral movement of the deflectible portion of the first member to prevent disassembly of the parts in that locking position.

Abstract: A cord lock having a body containing a plunger which can be pressed inwardly relative to the body against the resistance of an actuating spring, with the body and plunger having apertures through which a cord or cords can extend and which have edges acting to grip the cords when the plunger is in a predetermined locking position. The apertures are desirably of oblong sectional shape, and the gripping edges of the plunger and body are preferably sharpened in a relation assuring effective clamping of the cord.

Abstract: A ventilated hat or cap having an adjusting band which is preferably formed as a moisture absorbent sweat band, and which extends along the inside of the primary band structure of the hat, in spaced relation thereto to allow circulation of air upwardly and downwardly through a gap between the two bands, and with at least one and preferably both of the ends of the adjusting band being connected to the primary band structure for relative longitudinal adjusting movement in a relation varying the effective size of the hat or cap.

Abstract: A cord lock including a body containing a passage within which there is received a locking slide adapted to wedge a pair of cords against opposite side walls of the passage, with the slide having a main locking portion with a pair of toothed faces engageable with the cords respectively, and resiliently flexible feeler arms projecting from the slide and engageable with the cords in both the locked and released positions of the slide to attain a self locking action automatically actuating the slide to its locking position upon predetermined movement of the cords, and retaining the slide in locked position until purposely released therefrom. The side walls of the passage and the body desirably have converging portions laterally opposite and coacting with the main locking portion of the slide, and non-converging portions laterally opposite and coacting with the resilient feeler arms.

Abstract: A cord locking device including a body containing a central passage through which cords extend, and within which the cords can be releasably retained against longitudinal movement by a shiftable locking slide in the passage, with the ends of the cords in locked condition forming loops having a bow-like configuration and extending outwardly away from the body and then back to the body, and with the body containing two side passages located at opposite sides respectively of the main central passage and adapted to receive and hold the second ends of the loops to maintain the looped configuration.
