The MU RTS frame solicits clear to send (CTS) frame responses from a plurality of STAs and simultaneous UL OFDMA transmissions may be received in accordance with the MCS indicators, the data stream number indicators and the indicated spatial technology. An AP may transmit another frame comprising UL transmission information for transmission of data frames by the plurality of STAs. The AP may receive from the plurality of STAs, the data frames simultaneously and may additionally transmit acknowledgements of the received data frames to the plurality of STAs.

Feedback may also be divided into multiple components to improve feedback efficiency/accuracy. Time domain beamforming reports for taking advantage of channel reciprocity while still taking into account practical radio frequency (RF) channel impairments are also described. Beamforming feedback that prioritized the feedback bits in accordance with the significance of the bits is also disclosed.

An uplink trigger sent from the access point to the first station may be received. A map may be transmitted from the first station indicating at least one sub-channel that is available for spatial sharing by a second station. The first station may receive an acknowledgement from the access point that data was transmitted from the second station on the at least one sub-channel and/or received by the at least one access point. An OFDMA transmission having a sub-channel/sub-band available for transmitting data may be determined. An energy in the sub-channel/sub-band may be measured and/or compared to a dynamic and/or static threshold. Whether a sub-channel/sub-band is free or busy may be determined for example based on if the measured energy is, or is not, greater than the threshold.

The CCA value may indicate a minimum CCA threshold for a packet received from the second BSS. If the decoded group information matches group information stored in a memory of the STA, the STA may decode a high efficiency (HE) preamble and a high efficiency signal B (HE-SIG-B) field of the detected packet. Parameter adaptation may be coordinated across layers (e.g. between MAC and PHY layer parameters). Congestion levels may be detected, for example, using a smoothed queue size and/or channel busy time. Feedback may support parameter adaptation.
