  • Patent number: 9028110
Abstract: An optical device for providing a visual warning indication is disclosed. The optical device includes a high intensity localized light source such as a laser diode and a diffuser for modifying a beam intensity distribution of the emitted light from the high intensity localized light source to generate diffused light. The device further includes a collimator for collimating the diffused light from the diffuser to provide collimated light for emission from an output aperture to provide the visual warning indication. The beam intensity distribution of the emitted light is modified by the diffuser to generate a substantially uniform intensity distribution of the collimated light over the entire output aperture.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 16, 2010
Date of Patent: May 12, 2015
    Assignee: The Commonwealth of Australia
    Inventors: Michael Gillyon, Oksana Feklistova

  • Patent number: 8194708
Abstract: A laser apparatus in which the elimination of separate optical components to provide intra-cavity polarization and compensation for thermally induced birefringence, and their associated losses, results in an improvement in efficiency and reduction in complexity over prior art designs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 2007
Date of Patent: June 5, 2012
    Assignee: Ellex Medical Pty Ltd
Inventors: Dmitri Feklistov, Oksana Feklistova, legal representative
  • Patent number: 7986463
Abstract: A beam blocking and combining optic comprising a wedged optically transparent substrate with a hard dielectric coating applied to a beam combining side of the substrate. The coating has a high reflectance at a laser wavelength and high transmittance at visible wavelengths. The single optical component can combine laser beams into a viewing path and act as a laser safety filter to protect the viewer from reflected laser radiation while providing good color balance and very low astigmatism in the viewing path and very low astigmatism in the reflected laser beam.
