Patent number: 9099268Abstract: A mechanical switch in the form of a bypass switch assembly is arranged between two electrical conductors (busbars) and stays open during normal operation. When a cell fault happens, the fault and bypass information is transmitted to an actuator (acting as a trigger circuit) which activates inter alia a gas generator producing huge volume of gas in a very short time. The gas pressure pushes a movable member to bridge the two electrical conductors with ultrafast speed.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2012Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: ABB TECHNOLOGY LTDInventors: Åke Öberg, Filippo Chimento, Jian Qin, Liwei Wang, Ola Jeppsson

Patent number: 7407682Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for maintaining aseptic conditions in a juice plant in brief productional stoppages. The plant is of the type where juice concentrate is heated to a certain temperature in that steam is supplied to the concentrate. The juice concentrate is kept at this temperature in a holding tube during a certain interval of time. The juice concentrate is thereafter diluted with water to the correct dilution degree. In brief production stoppages, the supply of juice concentrate, steam and water is shut off. The pressure in the plant is maintained in that a stop valve closes and that steam is supplied in a small quantity through a by-pass conduit placed on the steam conduit. The stop valve is placed downstream of the supply of water. The holding tube which is insulated and connected to a heating loop maintains the temperature of the product in the holding tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2003Date of Patent: August 5, 2008Assignee: Tetra Laval Hodings & Finanace S.A.Inventors: Karsten Wilken, Lars-Ola Jeppsson, Sven Wejfeldt

Patent number: 7295416Abstract: A device for quick closing of an electric high-voltage circuit. A main spark gap is provided with a first and a second main electrode, and a triggering device. The triggering device includes an auxiliary electrode gap provided with a first and a second auxiliary electrode and is adapted, where necessary, to generate an arc in the auxiliary spark gap for igniting an arc in the main spark gap. Each auxiliary electrode is provided with a guide rail designed such that the arc, via the guide rails and under the influence of the generated inherent magnetic field, moves into the main spark gap. The two guide rails each have a length that is larger than the width of the auxiliary spark gap. The auxiliary electrodes are adapted so as to be protected from the effect of plasma formed in the main spark gap. A hermetic enclosure encloses the main spark gap and the auxiliary spark gap.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2003Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: ABB ABInventors: Per Halvarsson, Ola Jeppsson, Jan Johansson, Lars Paulsson
